Baptism Preparation
Through Infant Baptism, parents “transmit to their children
their faith and the grace of the Sacraments which allow them to
enter the people of God, the Church” (Pope Francis).
Parents wanting to have their children baptized must come by the
parish office to register their child, attend preparatory classes and
follow our policy for celebrating the Sacrament. The next sets of
classes will be May 9th and 12th, 2016.

member of the Parish and a practicing Catholic. Please call the

Sermon 155; PL 38, 843-844
“Pentecost, the culmination of Easter”
The Jewish people celebrated the Passover;
you know it well, with the sacrifice of a lamb with
unleavened bread they ate. This immolation of
the lamb foreshadowed the sacrifice of Jesus
Christ and the new life unleavened bread the old
yeast purified.... And fifty days after Passover,
the people celebrated the time when God gave
the Law at Sinai written his Fist and letter. A
figure of Easter Passover happens in fullness;
Jesus Christ is immolated and makes us pass
from death to life. The word Easter, in fact,
means "step" ...
Fifty days later, the Holy Spirit, the "finger of
God" (Lk 11, 20) descends on the disciples. Take
heed to differences in comparison to what
happened on Mount Sinai: There, the people
stood at a distance because of the fear that came
over him ... On the contrary, when the Holy
Spirit descended upon the earth, the disciples
were all together in the same place, and the Holy
Spirit, far from scaring from the top of a
mountain, enters the house where they were
meeting ...
"I saw tongues of fire resting on each one of
them." Was it a fire instilled from afar terror? No
way. These tongues of fire resting on each one of
them and began to speak in tongues as the Spirit
enabled them to express themselves. Hear the
language spoken and understand the Spirit who
writes, not on tablets of stone but on Hearts! (Cf
2 Cor 3,3). Thus, the law of the Spirit of life,
written in the heart and not on stone, the law of
the Spirit of life, I say, is in Jesus Christ in whom
Easter was celebrated in all truth.

“Pentecostés, culminación de la Pascua”
El pueblo judío celebraba la Pascua, vosotros lo
sabéis bien, con la inmolación de un cordero que
comían con panes ácimos. Esta inmolación del
cordero prefiguraba la inmolación de Cristo Jesús
y los panes ácimos la vida nueva purificada de la
antigua levadura.... Y cincuenta días después de
Pascua, este pueblo celebraba el momento en que
Dios daba en el Sinaí la Ley escrita de su puño y
letra. A la figura de la Pascua sucede la Pascua en
plenitud; Jesucristo es inmolado y nos hace pasar
de muerte a vida. La palabra Pascua, en efecto,
significa “paso”...
Cincuenta días más tarde, el Espíritu Santo, el
“dedo de Dios” (Lc 11,20) desciende sobre los
discípulos. Atended a las diferencias en
comparación con lo sucedido en el monte Sinaí:
Allí, el pueblo se mantenía a distancia a causa del
temor que lo invadía... Al contrario, cuando el
Espíritu Santo descendió sobre la tierra, los
discípulos estaban todos juntos en el mismo lugar,
y el Espíritu Santo, lejos de espantarlos desde lo
alto de una montaña, entra en la casa donde
estaban reunidos...
“Vieron como lenguas de fuego que se pusieron
sobre cada uno de ellos.” ¿Era un fuego que
infundía, desde lejos, el espanto? De ninguna
manera. Estas lenguas de fuego se pusieron sobre
cada uno de ellos y comenzaron a hablar en
lenguas, según el Espíritu les daba de expresarse.
¡Escuchad la lengua que habla y comprended el
Espíritu que escribe, no sobre tablas de piedra,
sino en los corazone! (cf 2Cor 3,3). Así pues, la
ley del Espíritu de vida, escrita en el corazón y no
sobre piedra, la ley de Espíritu de vida, digo, está
en Jesucristo en quien la Pascua ha sido celebrada
con toda verdad.

will be Thursday, May 26th at 7 pm in
the Church.
All Youth going to Steubenville will have
a Car Wash Fundraiser on May 28,
2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and
on Saturday, May 29th, 2016 from 8:30
am - 1 pm in the Church parking lot.

Our Bazaar is 1 week away. We need all parishioners
to help by giving monetary donations, live and silent
auction items; name brand canned drinks, 2 liter
drinks and individually wrapped cookies, brownies
and candy for the sweet booth.
T-shirts are in. $15 for adults and $10 for children.
Please come to the office to pick up and pay for your
T-shirts.
We are in need of plants for our plant booth. If you
have plants to donate please take to Maria Mendoza at
1505 North Ave. O, Freeport.
On the children’s games, we will have a water-slide
for the kids so make sure to bring towels and a
change of clothes.
Please come by the office to pick up raffle tickets
and start selling them. We need everyone’s help to
make this a successful fundraiser.
Nuestro Festival está ya a dos semanas.
Necesitamos la ayuda de todos los feligreses con sus
donaciones monetarias, artículos para las subastas en
voz alta y en silencio y refrescos en lata y en botellas
de dos litros. También pasteles, galletas y dulces
