Dear Sisters and Brothers,
On Ash Wednesday, this week,
we begin the Lenten Season leading up to the celebration of Easter,
the resurrection of Jesus. We are
offering three Masses on Ash
Wednesday, two in English and
one in Spanish, providing ample
opportunities to begin the Lenten Season with the
celebration of the Eucharist and the reception of
ashes. There are two choices for the prayer when
the ashes are placed on the person’s forehead:
Repent and believe in the Gospel or Remember that
you are dust, and to dust you shall return.
Whatever prayer is chosen, we are called to conversion and repentance during the liturgical season
of Lent. In the early Church, Ash Wednesday was
the day on which persons who had sinned and
wished to be readmitted to the Church would begin
their public penance in ashes and sackcloth. Many
of us grew up with what was termed ‘giving up
something for Lent.’ This is still a meaningful way
for many persons especially children. As adults, we
might choose to have more prayer time or silence so
that we can hear God’s call. The call to conversion
helps us to grow into full personhood. God loves us
but at times we don’t fully accept ourselves or others as God’s special creation.
Lent often inspires persons to some kind of
service and generosity. Sharing time and presence
with someone in need can include doing one extra
thing every day. We all know persons who are
lonely and discouraged. A friendly visit, a card, or
phone call provides meaningful interaction for so
many people. A simple gesture of acknowledging
others in a room whether adult or child reflects our
respect for the dignity of all persons.
The Church invites us to choose fasting and abstinence from food during certain days of Lent. We
have these guidelines posted in the bulletin and the
ages to which this applies. Clearly God desires to
draw close to each of us. During Lent, we open our
minds and hearts to the God already present in us.
May this Lenten Season be a blessing for each of
you!

Here are the Catholic Church's rules for fasting and abstinence
during Lent as released by the Green Bay Diocese:
Each Catholic is asked to preserve the penitential purpose and
character of Lent, which begins Ash Wednesday. Therefore:


Catholics who have celebrated their 14th birthday are bound
to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and each Friday of
Lent
Catholics who have celebrated their 18th birthday, in addition
to abstaining from meat, should fast, that is, eat only one full
meal on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Smaller quantities of food may be taken at two other meals, but no food
should be consumed at other times during those two days.
The obligation of fasting ceases with the celebration of one's
59th birthday.
These practices are designed for spiritual growth. Catholics are
not to excuse themselves lightly from these prescribed minimal
penitential practices.

At church entrances you will find a new Lenten reflection
book - the “pocket-sized” version of Not By Bread Alone
by Jay Cormier. This book offers short reflections from
February 18, Ash Wednesday through April 5, Easter
Sunday. We gratefully ask for a donation of $1/book.

Do a quick check of your priorities. Where does God
rank in that list? If He’s not first,
you have some work to do.
Putting God first in everything helps develop the

Programa Discípulos de Cristo
Discípulos de Cristo es un programa diocesano de
formación para ministerio dentro de la Iglesia. Es
para hombres y mujeres que desean servir a la Iglesia
de la Diócesis de Green Bay. Consiste en cursos de
6 semanas a lo largo de tres años de septiembre a
marzo. Los cursos cubren temas como Escritura del
Antiguo y Nuevo Testamento, Moralidad, Liturgia,
Sacramentos, Oración y Espiritualidad. Si desea más
información sobre este programa, puede consultar
con la Hna. Patricia en la Oficina Parroquial o con
uno de las varias personas de nuestra parroquia que
se han graduado del programa. (Hna. Patricia puede
ponerse en contacto con uno de ellos.) Es una oportunidad maravillosa para aprender más de nuestra fe
y prepararse para ser más activo en la Parroquia.
Puesto que estamos en tiempo de penitencia, por favor
absténganse de traer flores a la iglesia
durante la Cuaresma. Traigan sus Palmas
del pasado Domingo de Ramos 2014. Como
es costumbre, sus cenizas serán utilizadas
el Miércoles de Ceniza. Favor de colocar
sus palmas en la caja de cartón localizada
en la entrada de la iglesia.
Teatro “La Pasión de Cristo”
Nuestra parroquia está planeando una excursión a
Appleton para presenciar un teatro sobre la Pasión de
Cristo. Favor de consultar el volante en el boletín para
más detalles.
LA RECEPCIÓN DE LA SANTA COMUNIÓN
Cuando recibimos en la mano, la manera correcta es
extender las dos manos, una encima de la otra, de
acuerdo a la imagen de abajo y decir “Amen” que significa “yo creo”. No es correcto recibir la Sagrada
Hostia con dos dedos.
LA VIRGEN PEREGRINA
Si desea llevar a su casa la imagen de la Virgen,
comuníquese con la Sra. Elvia Navarro al
(920) 784-4155. Aun si la ha llevado antes, puede
hacerlo otra vez.

Mensaje de Nuestra Líder Pastoral
Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
Comenzamos la Cuaresma con
Miércoles de Ceniza esta semana, la
cual nos lleva hacia la celebración de la
Pascua, la resurrección de Jesús. El
Miércoles de Ceniza ofreceremos tres
Misas, dos en inglés y una en español.
Son amplias oportunidades para comenzar la Cuaresma
con la celebración de la Eucaristía y la recepción de
cenizas. Hay dos opciones para la oración que se dice
cuando las cenizas son colocadas en la frente de una
persona: Arrepiéntete y cree en el Evangelio o
Recuerda que eres polvo y al polvo volverás.
Independientemente de la oración que elija, somos
llamados a la conversión y al arrepentimiento durante
el tiempo litúrgico de la Cuaresma. En la Iglesia
primitiva, Miércoles de Ceniza era el día en que las
personas que habían pecado y deseaban ser readmitidas
a la Iglesia comenzaban a hacer su penitencia pública
en tela de cilicio y cenizas. Muchos de nosotros
crecimos con la idea de 'renunciar a algo para la
Cuaresma'. Esto sigue siendo una forma significativa
para muchas personas, especialmente niños. Como
adultos, podríamos optar por tener más tiempo de
oración o silencio para que podamos oír el llamado de
Dios. El llamado a la conversión nos ayuda a crecer
en plena capacidad como persona. Dios nos ama pero
a veces no nos aceptamos por completo a nosotros
mismos u otros como creación especial de Dios.
La Cuaresma a menudo inspira a las personas con
algún tipo de servicio y generosidad. Compartir
tiempo y presencia con alguien con necesidades puede
incluir hacer una cosa extra cada día. Todos sabemos
de personas solitarias y desalentadas. Una visita
amistosa, una tarjeta o llamada telefónica proporciona
una interacción significativa para tantas personas. Un
simple gesto de reconocer a otros en una habitación, ya
sea adulto o niño, refleja nuestro respeto por la
dignidad de todas las personas.
La Iglesia nos invita a elegir el ayuno y la
abstinencia de alimentos durante ciertos días de la
Cuaresma. Las normas y las edades para cuales estas
se aplican están publicadas en el boletín. Claramente,
Dios desea acercarse a cada uno de nosotros. Durante
la Cuaresma, abrimos nuestras mentes y corazones a
Dios quien ya está presente en nosotros.
¡Que este tiempo de Cuaresma sea una bendición
para cada uno de ustedes!

CUARESMA
Como Católicos estamos obligados a
cumplir con las penitencias de la cuaresma
que comienza el día Miércoles de Ceniza.
Mayores de 14 años en adelante deben
abstenerse de comer carne el Miércoles de
Ceniza, todos los viernes de Cuaresma y el
Viernes Santo.
1. Desde los 18 hasta los 59 años de
edad debemos ayunar obligatoriamente el Miércoles de Ceniza y el
Viernes Santo. El ayuno consiste en
no comer nada entre comidas y solo
consumir una comida fuerte al día. Estas penitencias son para ayudarnos a crecer espiritualmente.
Este año la cuaresma comienza el 18 de febrero con el
Triduo Pascual es el 2, 3 y 4 de abril; el 5 de abril es
Domingo de Pascua.
SERVICIOS EN NUESTRA PARROQUIA
 Miércoles de Ceniza, 18 de febrero, Misa a las
7:00pm e imposición de ceniza.
Todos están invitados a participar.
REFLEXIÓN DURANTE LA CUARESMA
Durante el tiempo de Cuaresma, muchas veces pensamos en lo que debemos sacrificar o no hacer. Tal
vez esta Cuaresma podemos pensar en algo que podemos hacer. Nuestra Parroquia les ofrece grupos de
reflexión durante las seis semanas de Cuaresma de
6:00-7:00pm. Si desea ser parte de esta oportunidad,
llene la forma que se encuentra en su boletín hoy y
entrega la forma al Sr. Mariano Navarro o a la Hna.
Patricia.
Durante el tiempo de Cuaresma
todos están invitados a participar
en el Vía Crucis cada
viernes a las 7:00pm comenzando el
20 de febrero.

VIRTUS en Español
La Diócesis está ofreciendo una sesión de
Virtus sin costo
alguno, el día sábado,
21 de febrero de 2:00pm—5:30pm en Melania
Hall, Salón 13, de la Diócesis. Esta sesión tiene
como fin proteger a nuestros niños y adultos vulnerables. Es requisito para cualquier persona que es
empleado o voluntario en la Iglesia, escuela católica
u otras instituciones auspiciadas por la Iglesia.

La Conferencia Local de San Vicente de Paul ofrece
becas a personas con interés en estudiar en North
-eastern Wisconsin Techical College. Si tiene interés y quiere más información sobre los requisitos o

del Altar. Te amo sobre todas las cosas y deseo vivamente recibirte dentro de mi alma, pero no pudiendo hacerlo ahora sacramentalmente, ven al menos espiritualmente a mi corazón.
Y como si ya Te hubiera recibido, Te abrazo y me uno del todo a Ti, Señor. No permitas
