PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE
Dear Parishioners:
The Generations of Faith Campaign seeks to raise a
minimum of $80 million to expand and enhance programs and
ministries throughout the Diocese. We are pleased to
announce that $265,000 has been pledged so far – 68% of our
initial target! Our new goal is to exceed $300,000.
The campaign priorities are to:
1. Strengthen the Heart of our Diocese by investing 50%
of the total dollars raised, or $40,000,000, back into local
parish communities for their own identified projects.
2. Fulfill Our Promise to Those Who Have Faithfully
Served by directing $30,000,000 to care for Senior and
Infirmed Priests.
3. Foster the Formation of the Future Generation of
Catholics through the Catholic Foundation’s Youth
Evangelization Program. We will place a youth minister in
approximately 140 parishes throughout the Diocese by 2020.
In the coming weeks you will receive more information
about this initiative and how it will benefit our parish.

WORLD DAY FOR CONSECRATED LIFE
Today we rejoice and celebrate World Day for
Consecrated Life. Over the years, many men and women have
chosen to live out their baptismal vocation by professing the
evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience. They
do this by joining a religious congregation, a secular institute,
or through private vows. We pray for Fr. Lin, Sr. Dilecta, Sr.
Ellen, Sr. Lourdette, Sr. Amelia, Sr. Mary, Sr. Clara, and ask
God to bless our Church with others who will dedicate their
lives to God’s service.
ASH WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE
Ashes will be given out all day in our church and rectory
on Ash Wednesday, February 10. Our Mass schedule for that
day will be 8:45 AM (English, in the Upper Church), 10:00 AM
(Chinese, in the Convent), and 7:00 PM (Spanish, in the Upper
Church). We will also have Eucharistic Adoration from 9:30
AM to 6:30 PM in the Upper Church.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
During Lent, we will pray the Stations of the Cross every
Friday in English after the 8:45 AM Mass and in Spanish before
the 7:00 PM Mass. Our Chinese parishioners will also pray the
Stations of the Cross in Chinese after the 10:00 AM Mass every
Wednesday.
LENTEN REGULATIONS
Abstinence – All the faithful who have reached 14 years of
age are required to abstain totally from meat on Ash
Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent.
Fasting – All the faithful between the ages of 18 and 59
inclusive are bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good
Friday. This practice involves limiting oneself to a single full
meal and avoiding food between meals. Light sustenance may
also be taken on two other occasions during the day.
Easter Duty – After they have been initiated into the Most
Holy Eucharist, all the faithful are bound by the obligation of
receiving Sacramental Confession and Holy Communion at
least once a year. This precept must be fulfilled during the
Easter season.

JORNADA MUNDIAL DE LA VIDA CONSAGRADA
世界献身生活日
今天我们欢庆世界献身生活日。一直以来，许许多
多的男女选择宣发福音性的贫穷、贞洁及服从圣愿，活
出圣洗圣事的召叫。他们往往加入一个修会、在俗团
体，或者宣发个人圣愿。我们今天特别为蔺神父、杨修
女、埃伦修女、路德修女、艾米莉修女、玛丽修女和王
修女祈祷，并求主降福教会内有更多献身于天主的人。
圣灰星期三
这星期三（2 月 10 日）是四旬期的开始，在圣堂和
办事处将全天发圣灰。当天的弥撒时间如下： 8:45 AM
（英语，在上层圣堂），10:00 AM（国语，在修院里），
7:00 PM（西班牙语，在上层圣堂）。从 9:30 AM 至 6:30
PM 在上层圣堂也将有朝拜圣体。
拜苦路
在四旬期内，每星期三国语弥撒之后，我们将一起
拜苦路。英语及西班牙语的教友也将在每星期五早上
弥撒之后及晚上弥撒之前拜苦路。
大小斋的规则
守斋的用意是：第一是弥补罪过；第二是促进教
友皈依基督的心愈益成长，引导教友思想像基督，行动
肖似基督。
小斋：教会规定凡已足十四岁的教友，四旬期内每
星期五应守小斋，不吃肉类食物。
大斋：教会要求年龄已满十八至六十岁的教友在
每年的圣灰日及圣周五应守大斋，不吃肉类食物并只
可饱食一餐，其馀时间可饮流质饮品，但不能进食其他
食物（药物除外）。
以上斋戒是最起码的，藉以引导我们进入四旬期的
悔罪。若因一些原因不能实行以上斋戒，应选择其它牺
牲克制作代替，特别是多行善举。此外，在四旬期内，
应办告解、参与弥撒、朝拜圣体或拜苦路。

La Campaña Generaciones de Fe busca recaudar un
mínimo de $80 millones para ampliar y mejorar los
programas y ministros de la Diócesis. ¡Estamos muy
contentos a compartirles que hemos recaudado $265,000 –
68% de la meta! Nuestra meta nueva es sobresalir
$300,000.
Las prioridades de la campaña son:
1.
Fortalecer el corazón de nuestra Diócesis,
invirtiendo el 50% de los fondos recaudados, o $40
millones, para ayudar a cada iglesia con sus proyectos y
necesidades locales.
2. Cumplir nuestra promesa a los que han servido
fielmente a nuestra diócesis y familias, nuestros

Hoy nos regocijamos y celebramos la Jornada Mundial
de la Vida Consagrada. A través de los años muchos
hombres y mujeres han elegido vivir su vocación bautismal
profesando los votos evangélicos de pobreza, castidad y
obediencia. Esto lo llevan a cabo al unirse a una
congregación religiosa, un instituto secular o por medio de

HORARIO DEL MIÉRCOLES DE CENIZA
La Cuaresma comienza con el Miércoles de Ceniza, 10
de febrero. Las cenizas serán entregados durante todo el
día en nuestra iglesia y la rectoría. Nuestro horario de las
Misas de ese día será 8:45 AM (inglés, en la iglesia de
arriba), 10:00 AM (chino, en el convento) y 7:00 PM
(español, en la iglesia de arriba). También tendremos
Adoración Eucarística de 9:30 AM a 6:30 PM en la iglesia de
arriba.
ESTACIONES DE LA CRUZ
Durante Cuaresma, oraremos las Estaciones de la Cruz
cada viernes en inglés después de la Misa de las 8:45 AM y
en español antes de la Misa de las 7:00 PM. Nuestros
feligreses chinos también orarán las Estaciones de la Cruz
en chino cada miércoles después de la Misa de 10:00 AM.
REGULACIONES DE CUARESMA
Abstinencia - Todos los fieles que han alcanzado los14
años de edad están obligados a abstenerse totalmente de
comer carne el Miércoles de Ceniza y los viernes de
Cuaresma.
Ayuno - Todos los fieles entre las edades de 18 y 59
están obligados a ayunar el Miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes
Santo. Esta práctica implica limitándose a una sola comida
completa y evitar los alimentos entre comidas. Sustento
ligeros también puede ser tomado en otras dos ocasiones
durante el día.
El Deber de Pascua - Después de que se han iniciado en
la Santísima Eucaristía, todos los fieles están obligados por
la obligación de recibir la Confesión Sacramental y la Santa
Comunión al menos una vez al año. Este precepto debe
cumplirse durante la temporada de Pascua.
