¿Me Amas?
Estimados hermanos y amigos de San Juan Bautista,
Cristo ha Resucitado; ¡En verdad ha
Resucitado! En la última aparición del Señor
Resucitado en el Evangelio de San Juan,
Cristo de manera clara y directa enraizó en
San Pedro la actitud fundamental que debe
motivar a todo Cristiano: “¿Me amas más
que éstos?” El corazón de la vida Cristiana
late con un amor por el Señor Crucificado y
Resucitado. Sin este amor, el Cristianismo
simplemente sirve como otra filosofía de la
vida. Cuando somos sujetados por el amor
de Dios, permitimos que nos transforme y
respondemos con amor a Dios y a los
demás, y entonces la nueva vida del Señor
Resucitado ha renacido en nosotros.
El Señor le preguntó a Pedro, no una o dos veces, sino
tres veces, “¿Me Amas?" ¿No conocía Él a San Pedro y su
corazón? Por supuesto que sí, pero le hizo esta pregunta a
Pedro para obtener de él su respuesta, de modo que Pedro, y
no Jesús, comprendiera la Verdad a esta pregunta tan
importante. La respuesta de Cristo a las tres respuestas de
Pedro y va dirigida a nosotros también: “Apacienta mis
corderos”, “Pastorea mis ovejas”. “Apacienta mis ovejas”
Cuando verdaderamente amamos al Señor, reconocemos que
Dios nos da el poder para compartir nuestra fe y amor con los
demás. Esto es ser Discípulo Verdadero — una historia de
amor con Dios que se desborda en todas las otras relaciones
que tenemos, incluyendo a desconocidos.
Eso es lo que el Obispo Gainer celebrará esta fortaleza en
dos semanas con nuestros 32 jóvenes en el Sacramento de la
Confirmación. Fortalecidos por la plenitud del Espíritu Santo,
estos nuevos confirmados, así como todos nosotros que
estamos confirmados, estaremos fortalecidos por el Señor
Resucitado a cuidar y alimentar sus ovejas. Felicidades a los
que se confirman en el Espíritu.
Siendo Discípulos Verdaderos, y estando envueltos en un
Amor tan poderoso, puede ser desconcertante o aterrador. El
don de valor del Espíritu Santo , no solo nos fortalece contra
el temor del peligro o persecución, sino que también nos
fortalece para seguir a donde nos guía el Amor, que a menudo
puede ser donde no queremos ir. Como una poderosa
cascada de agua que crea miedo al igual que admiración por
su fuerza, el amor de Dios puede parecer intimidante sin el
valor a rendirse a el. San Pedro demostró esta valentía del
Espíritu Santo respondiendo sin miedo al Sanedrín a quien se
vio obligado a obedecer sobre ellos.
Una de las maneras mas importantes que podemos cuidar
y alimentar a los corderos de nuestro Señor es en nuestro
papel como padres y padrinos. Cuidando y alimentando a
aquellas ovejas que están a nuestro cuidado — nuestros hijos
y ahijados—no solamente le ayudamos a conocer, a amar y a
seguir al Señor Resucitado, pero en este proceso, nosotros
mismos crecemos profundamente en el amor de Dios y
nuestro amor por Dios.

Saint Peter in the
fundamental attitude that

motivate
each
Christian: “ Do you love
me more than these?”
The heart of the Christian
life beats with a love for
the Crucified and Risen
Lord. Without this love,
Christianity simply serves as another philosophy of life.
When we are grasped by the love of God, allow it to
transform us, and then respond in love to God and others,
then the new life of the Risen Lord has been reborn in us.
The Lord asked Peter, not once or twice, but three times,
“Do you love me?” Did He not know Saint Peter and his
heart? Of course he did, but he asked Peter in order to elicit
from him his response so that Peter, not Jesus, would
comprehend the Truth to this all-important question. Christ’s
response to Peter’s three fold answer is very directive to us
as well: “Feed my lambs” “Tend my sheep” “Feed my
sheep.” When we truly love the Lord, we recognize that God
empowers us to share our faith and love with others. This is
Intentional Discipleship – a love affair with God that
overflows into every other relationship we have, including
strangers.
Bishop Gainer will celebrate this empowerment in two
weeks with our 32 youth in the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Empowered by the fullness of the Holy Spirit, these newly
confirmed, as well as all of us who are confirmed, will be
empowered by the Risen Lord to tend and feed his sheep.
Congratulations to those to be confirmed in the Spirit.
Intentional Discipleship and being caught up in such a
powerful Love can be unnerving or frightening. The Holy
Spirit’s gift of courage not only strengthens us against the
fear of danger or persecution, but also empowers us to follow
where Love guides us, which often can be where we do not
want to go. Like a mighty waterfall that creates fear as much
as awe by its power, the love of God can seem intimidating
without the courage to surrender to it. St. Peter demonstrated
this courage of the Holy Spirit by fearlessly responding to the
Sanhedrin that he was compelled to obey God over them.
One of the most important ways we tend and feed the
lambs of the Lord is as parents and godparents/ sponsors. By
tending and feeding the lambs in our care—our children and
godchildren—not only do we help them to know, love and
follow the Risen Lord, but by this very process, we ourselves
grow more deeply in our love of God and our love for God.

Godparents – Representatives of the Church
Los Padrinos tienen un papel maravilloso en nuestras
vidas católicas a través de los Sacramentos del Bautismo
y Confirmación. Sin embargo, muchos no entienden el
verdadero significado o papel de los Padrinos en la vida
del niño.
Los Padrinos, deben ser, nó los representantes de los
padres, sino los representantes de la comunidad de fe, la
Iglesia. Elegir padrinos calificados es importante, ya que
ellos son los que conectan al niño con la Iglesia , y a
través de sus vidas, palabras, acciones, y actitudes
ayudan al niño a seguir a Jesús. Ayudando y apoyando
a los padres, que son los PRIMEROS maestros de los
niños en las enseñanzas de la fe, los padrinos enseñan
por sus palabras, pero más aun por sus vidas como
católicos que asisten a Misa cada domingo, reciben a
Jesús en la Sagrada Comunión frecuentemente, van a
Confesión regularmente, entiende la palabra de Dios en
la Sagrada Escritura y viven las
enseñas de Cristo como mejor
pueden en sus vidas diarias.
El propósito de los padrinos
es el bien espiritual del niño,
conociendo,
viviendo
y
sirviendo al Señor. Por esta
razón la Iglesia tiene requisitos
muy claros para ser padrinos.
Para ser un padrino, la
persona debe cumplir los
siguientes requisitos:
EDAD:
 Tener 16 años de edad o más mayor
SACRAMENTOS
 Ser un católico que ha sido bautizado y ha recibido
los Sacramentos de Confirmación y la Sagrada
Eucaristía
ESTADO CIVIL
 Vivir según las leyes matrimoniales de la Iglesia.
Esto significa que la persona sea soltera, o casada
por la Iglesia católica. Si la persona no esta casada
por la Iglesia católica, pero vive con alguien o esta
casada por lo civil o casado en otra iglesia sin la
bendición del sacerdote, esta persona no esta
calificada en este momento para ser padrino.
CATOLICO ACTIVO, NO SOLO DE NOMBRE
 Estar activos en su fe católica asistiendo a Misa
regularmente, recibiendo los sacramentos y
esforzándose a vivir según las enseñanzas de Cristo
y su Iglesia.
Godparents
have a wonderful
role in our Catholic
lives through the
Sacraments of
Baptism and
Confirmation.
However, many do
not understand the
full and proper role
of Godparents in
the life of the child.
Godparents are to be, not the representatives of the
parents, but the representatives of the community of faith,
the Church. Qualified godparents are so important because
they connect the child to us, the Church, and through their
lives, words, actions, and attitudes help the child to follow
Jesus. Helping and supporting the parents, who are the
FIRST teachers for their children in the ways of faith, the
godparents teach by their words, but even more by their
lives that good Catholics attend Mass every Sunday,
receive Jesus in Holy Communion frequently, go to
Confession regularly, understand God’s Word in Sacred
Scripture and live out Christ’s teachings as best they can in
their daily lives.
The purpose of godparents is the spiritual well-being of
the child, knowing, loving and serving the Lord. For that
reason, the Church has very clear requirements to be a
godparent. To be a godparent, a person fulfills the
following requirements:
AGE:
 Be 16 years of age or older
SACRAMENTS:
 Be a Catholic who has been baptized and has received
the sacraments of Confirmation and the Most Holy
Eucharist
MARITAL STATUS:
 Be living according to the marriage laws of the
Church. This means the person is either single, or is
married through the Catholic Church. If a person is
not married through the Catholic Church but is living
with someone or was married civilly or married in
another church without the assistance of the priest, this
person is not qualified at this time to be a godparent.
ACTIVE CATHOLIC, NOT JUST IN NAME:
 Be active in their Catholic faith by attending Mass
regularly, receiving the sacraments and striving to live
according to the teachings of Christ and his Church.

Training for New Altar Servers
Any boy or girl (in grades 4th thru 12th who has
received first communion) who would like to become an
altar server is invited to our training sessions every
Wednesday @ 6:30 pm beginning with the rosary. Come
serve the Lord by serving at the Holy Mass. Fr. Wolfe is
particularly looking to our Confirmation Class to help
in this ministry.

PREPARACIÓN BAUTISMAL 2 Sesiones Requeridas
Antes de que un bebé o un niño menor de 7
años pueda ser bautizado, los padres deben
asistir a la Sesión-I para Padres, que se lleva a
cabo el 2do Sábado de cada mes a las 9:00 AM.
Luego, y solo después de haber asistido a la
primera clase, podrán asistir junto con los padrinos a la
Sesión II para Padres y Padrinos. Los padres que estén
esperando bebes pueden tomar la clase antes de que
nazca el bebé. Se requiere registración por adelantado,
pase por la oficina parroquial. La próxima clase para
padres y padrinos es el 23 de Abril.
Baptismal Preparation – 2 Sessions required
Before an infant or a child under 7 years of age can be
baptized, the parents must attend the Parents’ Class for
Baptism, which is held the 2 nd Saturday of each month @
9:00AM. Then, and only then, the parents with the godparents
attend Baptism Preparation Session II on the 4 th Sat. of the
month @ 9:00AM. Parents must register at the parish office.
