Ascension of the Lord: Tradition tells us that 40
days after the Resurrection (a very symbolic number in
Biblical language), the Lord left His disciples and was
lifted to the heavens where He returned to His Father.
Masses here in Blessed Sacrament are as usual —
morning and evening. Since it is a holyday of
obligation, all confirmed Catholics should attend a
Eucharist this day wherever you live, work or study.

My good friends,
Mis buenos amigos,
As we continue to honor Christ Risen from the dead,
what better way than recognizing Him and His love
very much alive in our community, especially this
weekend as we give thanks for our mothers. Since
nine is a significant number in our tradition, we will
offer the ‘novena’ of masses most especially for the
names on the envelopes prepared for this day.
Mothers, grandmothers, godmothers….thank you. And
for those who have left us in death, we pray the Lord
serve you a nice banquet today in heaven – one of the
images of heaven that He had used when with us.
Si buscamos a Cristo resucitado, solo tenemos
que dar gracias a Dios por la presencia de Jesús en el
amor de una madre. Por eso, perfecto celebrar este
domingo de resurrección y día de las madres. Por los
nueve días (un numero muy especial en la tradición
católica) los sobres y los nombres de madres,
abuelas, y madrinas se ve en el altar con el pan y el
vino. Rezando la oración de Jesús, que la Eucaristía
sea una bendición para ellas en esta vida o en la vida
eterna.
Extra confessions for our children and for our
Easter Duty: especially for the children who are to
receive their first communion, but also for any Catholic
who has not confessed in a while, the church
recommends confession at least once a year – and
during this Easter season is a great time to leave our
sins behind and rise with Him to a new life.
This week, I will be on the altar from 3pm Friday
until 9pm (except for the time I celebrate Eucharist at
the 7pm mass).

Her parents have
offered the intention of
the mass for their girl in
thanksgiving.
As I
have mentioned, we
will mention her name
during the mass, and
then after mass next
Sunday I will give
Cristina and her family
a separate blessing in
the sanctuary.
I
baptized Cristina, and
even confirmed her the
year that Bishop Valero could not travel due to the
storm. As the years pass by so quickly (even though I
think I and her parents look better today than the day of
Cristina’s baptism!) I thank God for all that the living
God has done for us.

nosotros adultos en tiempo de pascua: El viernes
de esta semana, estaré en el santuario especialmente
para los niños y niñas de la primera comunión.
También, si un católico todavía no se ha confesado
durante todo este tiempo de cuaresma y pascua,
entonces la sugerencia de la iglesia es de
reconciliarte con el Señor – lo mínimo una vez cada
año. No hay tiempo mejor que en estas semanas al
esperar la solemnidad de Pentecostés. Nos vemos
pues, el viernes de3pm hasta las 9pm.
