PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE
Dear Parishioners:
I don’t believe in coincidence. I believe that everything happens for a reason. The month of June is a good
example. So many life-changing events happened to me
during this month that I cannot help but attribute it all to
Divine Providence.
It was during the month of June in 1991 that I first
arrived in upstate New York. Two years later, I went to
California to enter the religious order of St. John the
Baptist. The Order sent me to Taiwan to study Chinese.
There, I entered the Novitiate on June 2nd, 1996.
Returning to New York, I made my first vows in June
1998, and repeated them every June until my solemn
profession in 2001. I switched to the Diocese of
Brooklyn in 2005, however, and was ordained to the
priesthood by Bishop DiMarzio in 2007 – also on June
2nd!
The month of June is also a special month for the
Universal Church. It is a month dedicated to the Sacred
Heart of Jesus. The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, which
usually falls on the first week of June, was designated by
St. John Paul II as World Day of Prayer for Priests. On
this day, parishioners are asked to pray for the
sanctification of all the priests of the Church.
What a better day for me to celebrate my ordination
anniversary than on the eve of this solemnity! Divine
Providence has obviously arranged it so, that I may be
reminded of the need for more sanctification. Please
don’t forget to pray for me and all our priests!

VOTER DRIVE
Next Sunday, June 12, volunteers from every parish
and Catholic school will be working to ensure that
parishioners in the Diocese of Brooklyn are able to vote.
This non-partisan voter registration drive can help you if:
• you aren’t registered
• you are registered elsewhere and need to update
your registration
• you haven’t voted in many years
• you simply wish to change parties
Our primaries will be in September with the general
election in November. You can’t make a difference if
you aren’t registered. Please take some time after Mass
next Sunday to fill out your registration form, and
remember to vote according to your faith.
LIFE CENTER OF NEW YORK
The Life Center of New York invites you to their
Annual Communion Mass (at 11:00 AM in St. Frances
Cabrini Church, 86th St. and 16th Ave.) and Brunch (at
12:30 PM in John Hughes Hall, 86th St. and 13th Ave.) on
Sunday, June 12. Contribution is $30 per person.
Payment must be received by June 8. For more

ROSARY FOR LIFE
Rosary for Life will be having a Retreat at
Resurrection Church, 2331 Gerritsen Ave, Brooklyn, on
Saturday, June 18, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Registration fee (which includes lunch) is $30 per person.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING CLASS
St. Agatha Parish and American Safety, Inc. presents
a 6-hour DMV-approved Defensive Driving Class, from
10:00 M to 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 25, in Kelly Hall.
Successful completion of the course provides a 10%
reduction in insurance rates and a reduction of 4 moving
violation points from your driver’s license. The fee for
the course is $50. To pre-pay and reserve a seat for the
class, please contact the rectory or call Joseph Mangano
at 347-528-7588. All licensed New York State drivers
welcome.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE
All are invited to join Bishop DiMarzio and the
Diocese of Brooklyn on a Marian Pilgrimage to the
National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in
Washington, DC on Saturday, October 29. Buses will
leave early in the morning and return by 10:00 PM of the
same day. Overnight packages are also available. Please
contact Fr. Lin in the rectory for more information.
PARISH PILGRIMAGE
All are invited to join St. Agatha Parish on a Year of
Mercy pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of
Guadalupe, visiting Mexico City, Xochimilco, Cuernavaca,
and Taxco, November 18-22. Cost is $1200 per person; a
non-refundable $400 is required. For more information,
please contact Fr. Ortiz in the rectory.
FRANCISCAN PILGRIMAGES
Franciscan friars Fr. Michael Sevigny and Fr. Julian
Jagudilla will lead several upcoming pilgrimages to holy
sites around the world, including a special pilgrimage for
the Canonization of Mother Teresa in Rome. For more

LA PERSPECTIVA DEL PÁRROCO
Queridos feligreses:
No creo en las coincidencias. Yo creo que todo
sucede por una razón. El mes de junio es un buen
ejemplo. Tantos acontecimientos me pasaron durante
este mes que cambio mi vida que no puedo dejar de
atribuir todo a la divina Providencia.
Fue durante el mes de Junio en 1991 que llegué
por primera vez al estado de Nueva York. Dos años
más tarde, fui a California para entrar en la orden
religiosa de San Juan Bautista. La Orden me envió a
Taiwán a estudiar chino. Allí, entré en el noviciado el
2 de junio de 1996. Al regresar a Nueva York, hice mis
primeros votos en junio de 1998, y las repetí cada mes
de junio hasta mi profesión solemne en 2001. Sin
embargo, me cambié a la Diócesis de Brooklyn en
2005 y fui ordenado sacerdote por el obispo DiMarzio
en 2007 — también el 2 de junio!
El mes de junio es también un mes especial para la
Iglesia universal. Es un mes dedicado al Sagrado
Corazón de Jesús. Generalmente la solemnidad del
Sagrado Corazón cae en la primera semana de junio,
fue designado por San Juan Pablo II como el Día
Mundial de Oración por los Sacerdotes. En este día, se
les pide a los fieles oración por la santificación de
todos los sacerdotes de la Iglesia.
Qué mejor día para mí que celebrar mi aniversario
de mi ordenación en la víspera de esta solemnidad!
Evidentemente, la Divina Providencia, ha arreglado
todo de modo que, yo me recuerde de la necesidad de
más santificaciones. Por favor, no se olvide de rezar
por mí y todos nuestros sacerdotes!

UNIDAD DE VOTANTES
El domingo, 12 de junio, voluntarios de cada
parroquia y escuela católica estarán trabajando para

CLASES DE CONDUCCION DEFENSIVA
La Parroquia de Sta. Agatha y American Safety, Inc.
presenta un Curso de Reducción de 6 horas aprobada
por el DMV y seguro, también conocido como Clase de

sábado 25 de junio, en Kelly Hall (auditorio de la
escuela). Con la competición del curso ofrece una
reducción del 10% en las tasas de seguros y una

我不相信巧合，我相信每件事的发生都有它的

1991 年的六月，我第一次来到纽约上州；两年

初学院。回到纽约以后，我在 1998 年的六月发初
愿，并在每年的六月都复发圣愿，直到 2001 年宣
发终身愿。2005 年，我加入布碌仑教区，并被迪
马守主教于 2007 年祝圣为神父——也是在六月
二日。
为普世天主教会来说，六月也是一个特别的月
份。这个月特别奉献给耶稣圣心，而耶稣圣心节则
通常在六月的第一个星期里庆祝。圣教宗若望•保
禄二世特定这一天为世界司铎祈祷日，每位教友
都被邀请在这一天特别为教会所有司铎的成圣祈
祷。
还有哪一天比在这个节日的前夕庆祝我晋铎
周年的纪念日更好呢！天意便是如此，提醒我需
要更加圣化自己。请大家不要忘记为我，也为我们
所有的神父们祈祷！

我们的党内初选和全国大选将分别于九月和
