Washington Elms News:
An Update on the Modernization of
Washington Elms Apartments
Pisani Center/Vess Building:
By mid August, work on the Pisani Center roof should be done and scaffolding around the building will be
removed. The vess building is scheduled to start roof work right after that and will be carried out for a few
weeks.
Exterior Building Doors and Keys:
New Exterior doors are planned to be installed by the end of this year. Cores will temporarily remain, but new cores
are planned to later be installed and residents will receive new sets of apartment keys. There is no exact date as to
when this will take place. However, residents will be given notice when the specific dates and times are confirmed
and the changes will be made.
Rodent Control:
The contractor is aware of the heavy rat activity and is making sure to keep the site clear as well as having
rodent control speacialist on site every month. CHA would like to ask Residents to make sure lids of trash bins
are closed to keep rodents from harvesting in those locations. Efforts from both the construction workers and
Residents will make a valuable difference. Thank you so much for your coorporation in this regard.
Exterior Upgrades:
Exterior upgrades are for the most part being done at every building. Currently we have some work being done
that prevents residents from exiting on one side of their unit. The following list includes all active exterior work;
Brick removal and restoration work, Stair installation, Priming and coating exterior brick walls, window sealing,
zinc paneling installation around windows, and painting canopies and columns around the entire site. Impacted
Residents have been receiving notices with specific details on which side of their building will be under
construction. CHA construction staff are making sure residents are properly notified to ensure they can exit their
apartments safely.
Court yards:
Constrcution is currently underway at some court yards. As they move on to other court yards, they are emptied
and back door entrances are blocked off until further notice. Every court yard will have to be clear of outdoor
belongings to begin landscaping. All Washington Elms residents have been notified that they have the option to
tag belonging for CHA to identify and store in a locked area. Residents may pick up a CHA tag at the Pisani
Center to place on their property. While landscape work is active, trash bins will be temporarily relocated, and
residents will be notified to of the exact location
Interior Upgrades:
There will be minor interior upgrades that include the following: Fire Alarm Installations, Sink aerator
replacements, exhaust fan installation, Thermostat installations, and minor electrical work.

Control de roedores:

Mejoras exteriores
Las mejoras exteriores en su mayor parte se están llevando a cabo en todos los edificios. En este momento,

Patios:
En este momento se están realizando obras en algunos patios. A medida que las obras se comienzan en
otros patios, éstos se vacían y se bloquean las puertas de entrada traseras hasta nuevo aviso. Para
comenzar con las tareas de paisajismo de los patios, se deben retirar todos los objetos personales de los
patios. Se ha informado a todos los residentes de Washington Elms que tienen la opción de poner una
etiqueta en sus pertenencias para que la CHA las pueda identificar y guardar en lugares cerrados con llave.
