Parish Religious Education
Program Registration
While September and the school year may
seem some time away, it is not too early to
register children in the St. John-Visitation
School of Religion Program. Classes are offered
for students not attending Catholic Schools and
whose families desire assistance with religious
instruction and sacramental preparation.
Classes are held on Saturdays for students from
Grade One to High School.
Please contact Ms. Jeanette Guzman, our
Coordinator for Religious Education, for further
information and to register your children. She

Did You Know?
Among the women disciples of Jesus
specifically named in the Gospels, Mary
Magdalene is mentioned 12 times. In the
Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John, she is the
first witness to the resurrection of Jesus. With
the exception of the descriptive reference in Luke
8:2, Mary Magdalene is portrayed in connection
with both the crucifixion and resurrection of
Jesus. She has become known as the "Apostle to
the Apostles" and her feast day is celebrated
annually on July 22nd.
Upcoming Washroom Repairs
We Are Grateful For This Week’s Donations
This summer, work will be done to
upgrade the washrooms at St. John-Visitation
Parish Pastoral Center. The existing women's
washroom in the lower level will be renovated
and a new men's washroom be constructed.
Given the number of groups that meet and use
the Parish Pastoral Center, this necessary
improvement will be greatly welcomed.
Not Married in the Catholic Church?
For various reasons, couples choose to be
civilly married but did not have a religious
celebration in the Catholic Church. According to
Church teaching, Catholics who marry are
required to have their unions celebrated in the
Catholic Church in order to participate in the
church’s sacramental life.
For those who are civilly married and did
not have a previous marriage celebrated in the
Catholic Church that requires an annulment, the
process to have the marriage validated or blessed
by the Catholic Church is usually not
complicated.
The chapel at the St. John-Visitation
Parish Pastoral Center offers a fine setting for
marriage validations and has already been used
for this purpose. If you find yourself in this
situation, please consider making an
appointment to speak with Fr. Kerrigan or Fr.
Antonio to discuss what may be done.
Lost & Found
Various items (prayer books, clothing
items, eyeglasses, devotional items, etc.) that
have been found and left in both the upper and
lower church are turned in at our "lost and
found" box in the sacristy. If you think that you
may have lost something or misplaced item at
our parish, please check the "lost and found" box
in the church sacristy. We have a collection of
items waiting to be claimed and retrieved by the
rightful owner.
Meeting Space Requests
Parish organizations, groups, and
societies who would like to schedule meetings are
asked to go to the St. John-Visitation Parish
Pastoral Center to submit request forms.
Advance notice helps with planning and
allocating available meeting spaces.
Pope Francis' Encyclical on the
Environment
The 2015 papal encyclical Laudato Si'
calls for immediate and difficult changes in each
of us, our country, and nations of the world,
including changes in our personal lifestyles, in
business practices, and national policies. It is a
message that may do not want to hear or heed.
Pope Francis asks each one of us to make some
sacrifice for a better, more compassionate world.
May we be thankful for his leadership and
courage as well as praying for "a conversion of
heart" in ourselves and in our national world
leaders, that we and they will be open to his
message and willing to take the needed steps to
protect our common home.

Educación Religiosa Parroquial
Programa Registraciones
Mientras septiembre y el año escolar
pueden parecer un tiempo lejos, no es demasiado
pronto para registrar a los niños en el St. JohnVisitación Escuela de programa de religión. Las
clases se ofrecen para los estudiantes que no
asisten a las escuelas católicas y cuyas familias
desean ayuda con la instrucción religiosa y la
preparación sacramental. Las clases se imparten
los sábados para los estudiantes de primer grado
hasta la escuela secundaria.

Próximas Reparaciones de Baños
Este verano, se trabajará para mejorar los

que se reúnen y utilizan el Centro Pastoral
Parroquial, esta mejora necesaria será muy bien
acogida.
No está casado en la Iglesia Católica?
Por diversas razones, las parejas pueden
optar por matrimonio civil, pero no tenían una
celebración religiosa en la Iglesia Católica. De
acuerdo con la enseñanza de la Iglesia, los
católicos que se casan están obligados a tener sus
uniones que se celebran en la Iglesia Católica con
el fin de participar en la vida sacramental de la
iglesia.
Para aquellos que están casados
civilmente y no tienen un matrimonio anterior
celebrada en la Iglesia Católica que requiere una
anulación, el proceso tiene que validar su
matrimonio o bendecido por la Iglesia Católica
por lo general no es complicado.
La capilla del Centro Pastoral San JuanVisitación dispone de un lugar excelente para las
validaciones de matrimonio y ya ha sido
utilizado para este propósito. Si usted se
encuentra en esta situación, por favor considere
hacer una cita para hablar con el Padre Kerrigan
o el Padre Antonio para discutir lo que puede
hacer.
Artículos Perdidos y Encontrados
Varios artículos (libros de oraciones,
artículos de ropa, lentes, artículos devocionales,
etc.) que se han encontrado y que quedan en la
iglesia tanto superior e inferior son entregados a
nuestra casilla de "objetos perdidos" en la
sacristía. Si usted piensa que puede haber
perdido algo o elemento fuera de lugar en nuestra
parroquia, por favor chequear la casilla de
"objetos perdidos" en la sacristía de la iglesia.
Tenemos una colección de artículos a la espera de
ser reclamado y recuperado por el propietario
legítimo.
Espacio para Reuniones
Organizaciones parroquiales, los grupos
y las sociedades que deseen programar reuniones
se les pide que vaya a la St. John-Visitation
Centro Pastoral para someter el formulario de
solicitud. Aviso anticipado ayuda con la
planificación y la asignación de espacios para
reuniones.
Encíclica sobre el Cuidado de la Creación
La encíclica Laudato Si' exige cambios
inmediatos y difíciles de cada uno de nosotros, de
nuestro país y de las naciones del mundo,
incluyendo cambios en nuestros hábitos
personales, en las prácticas comerciales y
políticas nacionales. Es un mensaje que no
siempre queremos escuchar o prestarle atención.
Papa Francisco nos pide a cada uno y, a todos
que sacrifiquemos algo nuestro para tener un
mundo mejor y más compasivo. Oremos en
gratitud por su liderazgo y coraje, y oremos por
una "conversión de corazón" en nosotros
mismos, y en nuestros líderes nacionales, para
que todos estemos abiertos a escuchar su mensaje
