Next Weekend's Second Collection:
Parishes throughout the Archdiocese will be
taking a combined special second collection at next
weekend's Masses (August 6-7) on behalf of The
Catholic Home Missions Appeal and The Church in
Latin America and the Caribbean.
As Cardinal Dolan notes in his letters
regarding these special collections:
"Mission dioceses often struggle with
isolation and a lack of educated pastoral and lay
leadership. With your support, The Catholic Home
Missions Appeal can continue to provide catechesis,
lay leadership training, funding for seminarian
education, and other essential pastoral outreach in
home mission dioceses."
"For the past 50 years, the United Stated
Conference of Catholic Bishops, through its
subcommittee on the Church in Latin America has
helped 25 countries in Central and South America, as
well as the Caribbean, to confront challenges to the
faith. With your assistance and the support of the
Catholic faithful, we have helped develop
evangelization and catechetical programs. We have
also funded activities that promote an encounter with
Jesus Christ so the faithful can become missionary
disciples."

Parish Religious Education Program
Registration
While September and the school year may
seem some time away, it is not too early to register
children in the St. John-Visitation School of Religion
Program. Classes are offered for students not
attending Catholic Schools and whose families desire
assistance with religious instruction and sacramental
preparation. Classes are held on Saturdays for
students from Grade One to High School.
Please contact Ms. Jeanette Guzman, our
Coordinator for Religious Education, for further
information and to register your children. To

Sant'Egidio Wednesday Evening Prayer Service
for World Peace
Recent and ongoing acts of terrorism and
aggression upon innocent human life are reminders
that our world is full of tensions and violence and we
often do not know what to do.
The Community of Sant’Egidio feels that every
Christian can work for peace and the first work of
peace is prayer.
Join us to pray for peace this coming
Wednesday August 3rd at 7:00 pm in the lower

The Archdiocesan Year of Mercy Holy Doors
Cardinal Dolan has designated the following
the shrines and churches in the Archdiocese of New
York as holy sites and place o pilgrimage where a
Holy Door, a Door of Mercy will be opened and
where all the faithful may obtain the Jubilee
Indulgence:
 Saint Patrick's Cathedral (New York
City)
 Basilica of Saint Patrick's Old
Cathedral (New York City)
 Saint Frances Cabrini Shrine (New
York City)
 National Shrine of Our Lady of
Mount Carmel (Middletown)
 National Shrine of Mary Help of
Christians (Stony Point)
Did You Know?
St. Alphonsus Liguori, the 18th century
bishop, theologian, and founder of Congregation of
the Most Holy Redeemer (the religious community
that has become known as The Redemptorists)
contributed greatly to the popular devotion of
praying The Stations of the Cross. In recalling the
journey of the fourteen stations of Jesus' passion,
death, and burial, his spiritual methodology offers a
way to reflect and meditate upon the true meaning of
the love of the Most Holy Redeemer that is still used
today. The life and example of St. Alphonsus Liguori
is recalled annually on August 1st.
Washroom Repairs
This summer, work will be done to upgrade
the washrooms at St. John-Visitation Parish Pastoral
Center. The existing women's washroom in the
lower level will be renovated and a new men's
washroom be constructed. Given the number of
groups that meet and use the Parish Pastoral Center,
this necessary capital building improvement will be
greatly welcomed.
Why Register As Parishioners?
If you and your family have not already done
so, please register as members of St. John-Visitation
Parish. Being registered is important since it
indicates a commitment to our parish community.
Parish registration enables us to assist you
when sponsor letters or any other type of referral
letters from our parish is needed. Church
registration are records to assist parish community
life; no church records are ever reported to INS,
federal, state, or city agencies. Remember that even
the Holy Family needed to register at the time of the
great census prior to our Savior’s birth (Luke 2:1-7)
Please make use of the yellow colored
registration cards in the church or at the parish office
to register. Completed cards may be returned in the
parish collection or at the parish office.

As you may have noticed recently, the back
page of our parish bulletin has increased with those
who place advertisements. The publication of our
weekly parish bulletin is made possible through them.

Segunda colecta el próximo fin de semana de:
Las parroquias de la Arquidiócesis va a tomar
una segunda colección especial combinado en las
misas del próximo fin de semana (agosto 6-7) en

la Iglesia en América Latina y el Caribe.
Como cardenal Dolan señala en sus cartas
con respecto a estas colecciones especiales:

también hemos financiado actividades que promueven

Educación Religiosa Parroquial
Programa Registraciones
Mientras septiembre y el año escolar pueden
parecer un tiempo lejos, no es demasiado pronto para
registrar a los niños en el St. John-Visitación Escuela
de programa de religión. Las clases se ofrecen para los
estudiantes que no asisten a las escuelas católicas y
cuyas familias desean ayuda con la instrucción
religiosa y la preparación sacramental. Las clases se
imparten los sábados para los estudiantes de primer
grado hasta la escuela secundaria.

Miércoles Sant'Egidio Servicio de Oración de la
Tarde para la Paz Mundial
Si nuestro mundo está lleno de tensiones y la
violencia y muchas veces no sabemos qué hacer,
la Comunidad de Sant'Egidio siente que todos los
cristianos pueden trabajar por la paz y la primera
obra de la paz es la oración.
Únase con nosotros para orar por la paz cada
primer miércoles del mes (6 de julio, 3 de agosto, 7 de
septiembre) a las 7:00 pm en la capilla del Centro
Pastoral St. John-Visitation (275 West 230 St.)

Misericordia Puertas santas
Cardenal Dolan ha designado los siguientes

¿Sabías que...?
San Alfonso de Liguori, del siglo XVIII,
teólogo, obispo y fundador de la Congregación del
Santísimo Redentor (la comunidad religiosa que ha
llegado a ser conocida como Redentoristas)
contribuyeron en gran medida a la devoción popular
de rezar las estaciones de la Cruz. Recordando el viaje
de las catorce estaciones de la pasión de Jesús, muerte
y entierro, su metodología espiritual ofrece una
manera de reflexionar y meditar sobre el verdadero
significado del amor del Santísimo Redentor que se
utiliza aún hoy. La vida y el ejemplo de san Alfonso
de Liguori se recuerda anualmente el 1 de agosto.
Próximas Reparaciones de Baños
Este verano, se trabajará para mejorar los
aseos en St. John-Visitation Centro Pastoral
Parroquial. El baño de mujeres existentes en el nivel
inferior será renovado y un nuevo baño de hombres se
construye. Dado el número de grupos que se reúnen y
utilizan el Centro Pastoral Parroquial, esta mejora
necesaria será muy bien acogida.
¿Por qué Registrarse como Feligreses?
Si usted y su familia no lo ha hecho, por favor
registrarse como miembros de San Juan-Visitación
Parroquia. Estar registrado es importante, ya que
indica un compromiso con nuestra comunidad
parroquial.
Registro de la parroquia nos permite ayudar
a usted cuando se necesitan cartas patrocinadores o
cualquier otro tipo de cartas de referencia de nuestra
parroquia. Registro Iglesia son registros para ayudar
a la vida comunitaria de la parroquia; no hay
registros de la iglesia nunca son reportados al INS,
federales, estatales o agencias de la ciudad. Recuerde
que incluso la Sagrada Familia necesitaba registrar
en el momento de la gran censo antes del nacimiento
de nuestro Salvador (Lucas 2: 1-7)

parroquial para registrarse. Tarjetas completadas
pueden ser devueltas en la colección de la parroquia o
en la oficina parroquial.
