Fathers’ Day Blessings
Traditionally, the 3rd Sunday of June is
Fathers' Day. While this is primarily an annual
secular celebration to honor fathers, it offers us an
opportunity to recall the vocation of Christian
fatherhood.
The St. John-Visitation parish pastoral staff
and community extends our gratitude and prayerful
best wishes to all fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers,
godfathers and all those who exercise a fatherly role in
our lives. We pray for God’s continued blessings upon
these men:
God, Our Heavenly Father,
We give You thanks and praise for fathers everywhere.
We honor them and pray that Your Blessing
will come upon them in a special way on this day.
We remember fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers,
godfathers, and great grandfathers.
We recall and pray especially for those who are no
longer with us
but who live in our memory and nourished us with
their love.
Mindful that You are the Father of us all,
we invoke your blessing upon these men
that their fatherly example will guide us
as Your children to know, love, and serve You
and to grow in the fullness of Jesus Christ.
Did You Know?
The Nativity of Saint John the Baptist
celebrated on June 24 occurs close to the summer
solstice in the Northern Hemisphere as a way to
highlight the scripture verse “He must increase, I must
decrease” (John:3:30) and the symbolism of the true
light coming into the world.
It is one of the oldest festivals of the Christian
Church and anticipates the feast of Christmas
celebrated six months later on December 25th. Saint
Augustine proposed these dates since after the birth of
John the Baptist, daylight begins to grow shorter
whereas after the Jesus’ birth, the number of daylight
hours begins to increase.
Holy Land Parish Pilgrimage Meeting
Mr. Tony Tannousis, President of TriStar
Tours, Inc. will be hosting another meeting for those
who have recently registered, already paid deposits or
may be interested in further information about our
parish's Holy Land pilgrimage for the Year of Mercy
(Oct. 31-Nov. 10) this coming Saturday June 25th at
2:00 pm in the St. John-Visitation Parish Pastoral
Center.

Return of Baby Bottles for Life
Returns of the baby bottles with your
donations (coins, cash, check) to support Expectant
Mother Pregnancy Care Centers (EMC) throughout
New York City may be brought to the church or parish
office through next weekend (June 25-26), EMC
annually counsels thousands of distraught expectant
moms by providing free testing, ultrasound, practical
and spiritual assistance. Your gift saves lives.
Importance of Parish Registration
If you and your family have not already done
so, please register as members of St. John-Visitation
Parish. Being registered is important since it indicates
a commitment to our parish community.
Parish registration enables us to assist you
when sponsor letters or any other type of referral
letters from our parish is needed. Church registration
are records to assist parish community life; no church
records are ever reported to INS, federal, state, or city
agencies. Remember that even the Holy Family needed
to register at the time of the great census prior to our
Savior’s birth (Luke 2:1-7)
Please make use of the yellow colored
registration cards in the church or at the parish office
to register. Completed cards may be returned in the
parish collection or at the parish office.
Meeting Space Requests
Parish organizations, groups, and societies
who would like to schedule meetings are asked to go to
the St. John-Visitation Parish Pastoral Center to
submit request forms. Advance notice helps with
planning and allocating available meeting spaces.
