Death is a difficult topic to discuss for many
people, but it is something we face on a
regular basis. The Church celebrates the life
and memory of those who have passed from
this world and reminds us of God's merciful
love. There are many examples of this: at
the beginning of November, the Church celebrates the
Solemnity of All Saints and the Commemoration of All the
Faithful Departed (All Souls); there are vigils for the deceased,
funeral liturgies, rites of committal and final commendation,
and prayers for the deceased and those who are mourning. All
of these prayers and services help us acknowledge our grief,
celebrate the life of the one who has passed away, and find
solace in the loving compassion of God.

In our Creed we confess that we believe
in “one, holy, catholic and apostolic
Church.” Traditionally, this has been
viewed as a communion in spiritual goods and in the extraordinary
gifts of grace bestowed upon the Church. We are all interconnected by
virtue of the one Spirit we share through our baptism. The sacred
goods shared in this communion are identified as the communion of
faith, of sacraments, of charisms, charity and even of possessions. In
short, every member of the Church has access to all the spiritual riches
and goods of all the others, and all benefit from the sanctification of
the other. Thus, we not only have communion with each other and
with all living Catholics upon the earth, but with all Catholics who
have ever existed at any time. The Church exists in three states:
Church Militant: those of us upon earth, fighting against the world,
flesh and the devil; Church Suffering: those being purified in
Purgatory; and the Church Triumphant: the saints and the angels in
Heaven. The first two states are temporary and will pass away at the
end of time, while the third is everlasting. Because of our unity in the
Spirit, we have communion with all Catholics who are in any one of
these three stages. “For there is one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all. We, who
have the power to pray and merit, may offer prayers for the souls in
Purgatory. We do not offer prayers for those in Heaven, who need no
prayers, but rather invoke their prayers for us and for those in
Purgatory.

Adult Faith Formation
The Nicene Creed was written centuries ago to help Christians
remember the important beliefs of the faith. In the Nicene
Creed we identify the four marks of the Church. The four marks
of the Church are not characteristics that the Church creates or
develops or learns. They are qualities that Jesus Christ shares
with his Church through the Holy Spirit. The four marks of the
Church are that it is one, holy, catholic, and apostolic.
The Church Is One Just as God is one in the Father , Son,
and Holy Spirit, so also is the Church one.
The Church Is Holy—The Church is holy because the Church
lives in union with Jesus Christ, the source of holiness. Through
the Holy Spirit the Church leads others to holiness.
The Church Is Catholic—Catholic means “ universal.” The
Church is universal in two ways: because all baptized people
are part of the Church and because the Church has been sent to
proclaim Christ to the entire human race.
The Church Is Apostolic because it tr aces its tr adition
directly from the apostles and with the Holy Spirit the Church
preserves and continues the teaching of the apostles. The pope
and bishops are the successors of the apostles.
La muerte es un tema difícil de discutir para
muchas personas, pero es algo que enfrentamos
regularmente. La Iglesia celebra la vida y la

Formación de Fe para Adultos
El Credo de Nicea fue escrito hace siglos para ayudar a los cristianos a

Iglesia no son características que la Iglesia creo, desarrollo o aprendió.
Son cualidades que Jesucristo compartió con su Iglesia a través del
Espíritu Santo. Las cuatro marcas de la Iglesia son: que es una, santa,
católica y apostólica. La Iglesia es Una - Así como Dios es uno en el
Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo, así también es la Iglesia. La Iglesia
es Santa—La Iglesia es santa porque la Iglesia vive en unión con
Jesucristo, fuente de santidad. Por medio del Espíritu Santo la Iglesia
lleva a otros a la santidad. La Iglesia es Católica-católica significa
"universal". La Iglesia es universal de dos maneras: porque todos los
bautizados son parte de la Iglesia y porque la Iglesia ha sido enviada a
proclamar a Cristo a toda la raza humana. La Iglesia es Apostólica
porque traza su tradición directamente de los apóstoles y con el
Espíritu Santo la Iglesia conserva y continúa la enseñanza de los
apóstoles. El papa y los obispos son los sucesores de los apóstoles.

November is the liturgical month dedicated to prayer for Holy Souls
- they need our prayers, so please take this opportunity to PRAY,

powerful! Its a wonderful way to strengthen your family and
support prayer development.
This week, is Vocation Awareness Week. Sr. Juanita will be
discussing her vocation with our SonSeekers on November 16
& Fr. Martin will be visiting the Lambs of God and Holy Minion
classrooms.

Catholic Daughters of the America
IT IS OFFICIAL!! Father Martin is now the
Chaplain for the Catholic Daughters.
Fr. Martin was our speaker this month and he shared
his experiences and his journey of discernment with
us. Thank you Father Martin for accepting the position as our
spiritual guide and for sharing your story. The Bazaar was a
great success. The proceeds will be used for our Scholarship
fund. THANK YOU TO ALL THE LADIES WHO
WORKED ON THIS BAZAAR. The lunch was delicious.
The volunteers who helped cook, price, set-up, sell, wrap and
clean-up made this event a success. THANKS ALSO TO
THE BAZAAR COMMITTEE: Kathy Andreas, Pat Bauer,

Knights Corner
The Knights of Columbus will be taking pre orders for
tamales this weekend. The tamales are 18.00 per dozen
and will be ready for pick up after all masses on
December 3 and 4th.
Thank you to all that donated to the Roses for Mary event the last
two weekends. The Father Taaffe homes for unwed mothers greatly
appreciate your support.
The Knights will hold their annual banquet on Saturday night
November 19th. Dinner will be a choice of Prime rib or chicken with
mashed potatoes, vegetable and salad. For information please call

Pre-School Corner
Last week the children had two days
of cooking. First we made deviled eggs. That was so easy!
They cut the eggs in half, mashed the yolk, added some mayo
and put it back together and then enjoyed.
Secondly, they made grilled cheese sandwiches. Again that
was easy. All they had to do was butter the bread, add some
cheese and have a grown up put it on the grill. It was yummy.
All Saints Day was also celebrated this past week. The
children listened to different saint’s stories and promised to try
and be like them and love God more. They are learning new
songs about turkeys which they will sing to their parents at the
Thanksgiving party. Their ABC book is getting thicker as they
learn more letters.

Los Caballeros de Colón estarán tomando pedidos para
tamales este fin de semana. Los tamales son $18.00 por

María los últimos dos fines de semana. Los Hogares para Madres

Rincón de los Pre Escolares
La semana pasada los niños tuvieron
dos días de cocinar. Primero hicieron
“huevos al diablo”. ¡Eso fue tan fácil! Tomaron los huevos hervidos,
los cortaron a la mitad, trituraron las yemas, agregaron un poco de
mayonesa y llenaron las mitades con la mezcla y luego disfrutaron.
En segundo lugar, hicieron sándwiches de queso a la parrilla. Otra vez
fue fácil. Todo lo que tenían que hacer era poner mantequilla en el
pan, añadir un poco de queso y un adulto lo puso en la parrilla. Fue
delicioso. El Día de Todos los Santos se celebró la semana pasada.
Los niños escuchaban historias de diferentes santos y prometieron
tratar de ser como ellos y amar a Dios más. Están aprendiendo nuevas
canciones sobre pavos y van a cantarselas a sus padres en la fiesta de
Acción de Gracias. Su libro de ABC se está volviendo más grueso a
medida que aprenden más letras.
