Texto cohesivo. En el mundo habitual "volar” significa rapidez. Llegamos al bar. Me sentí mal. Empecé a ver globos que volaban. Texto cohesivo. Posiciones alternativas To whom are you talking? Who are you talking to? The people with whom I travel. The people I travel with. c. Por ejemplo: The CEO is at an important meeting. Most people don’t work at weekends. In 1997 the UAR (Union Argentina de Rugby) accepted advertising on sports clothes. They don’t have personnel meetings on Wednesday afternoons. e. With buildings we can often use at or in: We had lunch at/in Luigi’s restaurant. We normally prefer at when we think of the building quite generally as a place where something happens: My brother is at university. But we use in when we think of the building itself. Compare: We stayed at the Austral Hotel. There are 80 bedrooms in the Austral Hotel. With addresses we use at when we give the house number; we use in when we just give the name of the street. I live at 1435 Mitre Street. I live in San Martin Street. 4. preposiciones de lugar y movimiento Above and over can both mean “higher than; below and under can both mean “lower than”. Over and under describe a direct vertical relationship. © C is over R The nurse leaned over the sick child. | ® R is under C I pushed the letter under the door. At the end of the fiscal year all companies prepare a balance sheet. 10 We never have meetings in the morning. She sometimes works overtime. My secretary copies documents every afternoon. Affirmativo I/you/we/they live he/she / it lives Negativo Interrogativo I/you/we/they do not (don’t) live he/she / it does not (doesn’t) live do I/you/we/they live? does he/she / it live? Most people don’t work at weekends. She doesn’t travel by bus to get from one town to another. Do people in your country like to worn in a team or on their own? When does he usually use his cell phone? PRESENT TENSE VERBS SIMPLE PRESENT PRESENT PERFECT PRESENT CONTINUOUS I work in a post office. I have worked here for ten years. I’m working on a new project. I don’t work in this office. I have not (haven’t) worked for this company. Do you work in this office? Have you worked for this company? I am not working on a new project. Are you working on a new project? Grammar Issues -8- 1. Present Perfect Tense have/has + past participle I‘ve been off work because I’ve got a dreadful cold. Have you ever stayed in hospital? She’s never taken vitamin pills in all her life. Has she given up smoking? PAST I am still here now – at 4.00. PRESENT I’ve been here for an hour. She has worked in Trelew for six months. I’ve studied English and French. (up to now, in my life) She’s never been there. (at no time up to now) b. 11 Someone has broken the fax machine. (= the fax machine is now broken) They’ve cleaned the room. (= The room is now clean) 2. Present Continuous is/are + base+ing Where are the managers? They are having a meeting with the stockholders. What is the secretary doing at the moment? She’s sending a fax. a. Who is CEO talking to? He is talking to the Human Resources Manager. b. The company is spending a lot of money in office supplies these days. She is looking for a job at the moment. Computers are becoming more and more important in our lives. (to talk about a situation which is changing or developing.) The United States of America began as a farming society. You will live in a single study room. The unit offers a variety of courses in the summer. The first transcontinental railway was completed in 1869. Your progress will be monitored throughout the course. At the end of the course you are invited to attend an interview with your course instructor. Por ejemplo: English is spoken all over de world. Has the house been sold? Analice las siguientes oraciones: According to these finding, retail stores are also being impacted by e-commerce. The changes have been well-received in the area and the sales have increased despite the new competitors. 12 In 1910 the USA was the leading industrial nation in the world, and most of its economic might was controlled by huge corporations. Not all loans and lenders are created equal. More books have been sold since the bookshop carried out successful changes. I’m afraid the letter that you sent didn’t arrive. I had a good friend who lived in that street. 1 I saw the doctor last night. 2 He was rude. The doctor who I saw last night was rude. Estructura Se utiliza who para personas. I spoke to a receptionist. She was very helpful. I spoke to a receptionist who was very helpful. Se utiliza which para cosas. The bread is always very fresh. I get it at the baker’s The bread which I get at the baker’s, is always very fresh Se utiliza that para cosas y gente, especialmente en contextos más informales. The bread that I get at the baker’s is always very fresh. 16 I spoke to a receptionist that was very helpful. Verdades Universales/Generales – situaciones que son siempre verdaderas (zero conditional) Present simple Water freezes You can’t drive alone Present simple if you heat it below zero. you don’t pass your driving test.
