DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY ~ The mercy of God is not only great, but abundant. It is offered to us before
we know we need it, and when we open to it we receive more than we could ever want or need. Grace,
as understood in the Church, is all gift. It is not deserved or merited. It is not earned or able to be
purchased. It is God’s love and Spirit poured out over us and into us. If we think we earn it, we not only
limit its abundance but also its fruitfulness. Only when we truly perceive it as gift and free and given out of love do we
begin to understand how blessed we are to receive it. Grace is another way of seeing God’s divine mercy. The mercy of
God is revealed so often in the Scripture, especially through Jesus’ merciful love shown to the sick and those in need.
But also, as in today’s Gospel, his mercy reaches out even to those who betrayed him and left him to suffer and die
alone. He offered them merciful love when he met them again in the upper room on Easter night. He did not condemn
them but offered them: the gift of peace, the gift of his Spirit, the call to go forth, and even the gift/power to share God’s
forgiveness with others. If the apostles had received what they deserved for their lack of faithfulness to Jesus; indeed,
they would have received very little at all. But, in God’s great mercy and love, Jesus poured out grace upon grace to
reveal unmerited and underserved love. Do we get it? Do we understand that God is always loving and blessing us? Do
we realize that the best posture before God is simply – gratefulness!

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
BLESSINGS . . . to all who share a
special devotion to Divine Mercy.
Although we celebrate Divine Mercy every
month, the whole Church celebrates in
unity the great mercy of God today! It is our hope
that those who have a special need for God’s mercy
for whatever reason and to what ever degree, that
they will open their hearts to receive in abundance from a
God who will give much more than they need or could
ever imagine. Blessings to the whole Church of God on
this great Feast!

R C I A (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults):
Today our RCIA Candidates come into full communion
with our community of St. Bernard and our whole Roman
Catholic Community. As they receive their Confirmation
and First Eucharist they complete their Sacraments of
Initiation and share the fullness of their Baptismal Faith.
Now they will break the bread with us each weekend
throughout the rest of their lives. Welcome! Alleluia!!
YEAR OF FAITH and the SACRAMENTAL LIFE OF THE CHURCH
We are evangelizing our community with a deeper reflection
upon the Sacraments and the Sacramental Life of our Church.
Come to know what happens when we celebrate and receive
our sacraments so that their true power and effective grace
may cause within us a deeper relationship with God and
produce new life within us! Class on Sacrament of Baptism
in English, this Thursday, April 11 at 7:00pm in the

CFCA was founded by lay Catholics acting on the Gospel
call to serve the poor throughout the world. CFCA
provides basic necessities such as food, education,

Domingo de la Divina Misericordia ~ La misericordia de Dios no es solamente grande, sino que
también es abundante. Se nos ofrece incluso antes de que sepamos que la necesitamos, y cuando nos
abrimos a ella, recibimos más de lo que podemos desear o necesitar. La Gracia, tal como se entiende
en la Iglesia, es todo un regalo. No somos merecedores de ella. Ni se gana ni se puede comprar. Es el amor y el Espíritu
de Dios derramado sobre nosotros y en nosotros. Si pensamos que la merecemos, no sólo limitamos su abundancia,
sino también sus frutos. Sólo cuando verdaderamente la percibimos como un regalo, y cuando nos damos cuenta de
que es gratis, y que se nos entrega a nosotros por amor, comenzamos a entender cuan bendecidos somos de recibirla.
La gracia es otra forma de ver la misericordia divina de Dios. La misericordia de Dios se manifiesta a menudo en las
Escrituras, especialmente a través del amor misericordioso de Jesús que demuestra hacia los enfermos y a los
necesitados. También, igual que en el Evangelio de hoy, su misericordia se extiende incluso hacia aquellos que lo
traicionaron y lo dejaron sufrir y morir solo. Les ofreció amor misericordioso cuando se encontró con ellos de nuevo en la
habitación de arriba la noche de la Pascua. Él no los condenó, sino que les ofreció: el don de la paz, el don de su
Espíritu, el llamado a salir, e incluso el regalo y el poder de compartir el perdón de Dios con los demás. Si los apóstoles
hubieran recibido lo que merecían por su falta de fidelidad a Jesús, indudablemente que hubieran recibido muy poco.
Pero, en la gran misericordia y en el amor de Dios, Jesús derramó gracia sobre gracia para revelar el amor inmerecido.
¿Entendemos esto? Entendemos que Dios siempre nos está amando y bendiciendo? ¿Nos damos cuenta de que la
mejor postura ante Dios es simplemente de - agradecimiento!

CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN & AGING
La colecta para CFCA se llevará a cabo el próximo fin
de semana. CFCA fundada por católicos laicos actuando
sobre el llamado del evangelio a servir a los pobres a
través del mundo. CFCA proporciona necesidades
básicas acomo alimento, educación,roapa y acceso a
cuidados medicos. Su generosidad ayudará
a las
familias a forjar un camino fuera de la pobreza.
RETIRO ESPIRITUAL PARA HOMBRES

Español que tomará lugar en Serra Retreat Center en

forbidden in our Catholic schools? Bullying typically consists of
direct behaviors, such as teasing, taunting, threatening, hitting,
shoving and stealing. But it might also be indirect, such as
spreading rumors that cause victims to be socially isolated through
intentional exclusion. Cyberbullying, which involves the use of the
Internet or mobile phones to send inappropriate messages and
images to or about others, is also behavior that is not tolerated in
our Catholic schools. If you suspect bullying of a child at school,
please contact the school principal with your concerns. For
particular help, you may call Assistance Ministry at (213) 637-7650.
