parish retreat from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 21.

Time of Reflection: Soup & Sabbath reflection series for
Lent, Mondays Feb. 23—March 30. Simple soup with

week reflections will be on life together, led by groups
who experience their lives together in various ways.

Synod on the family
“The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church
and Contemporary World”
Archbishop John Nienstedt is asking all Catholics in the
Archdiocese to share our concerns and ideas about family
life today. A survey, responses and listening sessions are all
part of the gathering of input that the U.S. Bishops will offer
as part of the Lineamenta. Catholics can learn more
about their role by visiting the Archdiocesan website
(www.archspm.org/) and clicking on the Office of
Marriage, Family, and Life tab.
The archbishop welcomes us to participate in a “Listening
Session.” These will be held at the following parishes from
7-8:30 p.m.

CUARESMA 2015
Hoy, celebraremos el Rito de Aceptación para los niños
y jóvenes que estarán iniciados a la iglesia católica el
día de Pascua.
La cuaresma comenzará este miércoles el 18 de febrero
con el miércoles de ceniza. Iniciaremos este tiempo
litúrgico con misa bilingüe a las 7 p.m. y ofreceremos
como parroquia varios eventos y actividades para
profundizar nuestra reflexión personal y comunal.

La cuaresma es un momento de examinar nuestras vidas
y reflexionar en el estado del alma. ¿Estamos amando a
Dios y al prójimo como Jesús nos manda? ¿Tenemos la
vida de oración que nos gustaría tener para enfrentar las
tentaciones y dificultades de la vida? ¿Compartimos
generosamente con los más necesitados de la
abundancia que tenemos?
La cuaresma también es un momento de iluminación, de
purificación, y de sacrificio para que podamos
verdaderamente apreciar el sacrificio que Jesús hizo por
nosotros y acercarnos más a Dios y las cosas de Dios. Por
eso, la iglesia católica nos anima a todos a poner más
atención al ayuno, a la oración y al dar limosna durante
este tiempo. El propósito es llegar a la Pascua con un
corazón y espíritu renovado y fortalecido para que
podamos ser mejores discípulos de Jesús.
Para ayudarnos a entender y cumplir con lo que nos
exige esta estación litúrgica, tendremos un retiro bilingüe
programado para el sábado, 21 de feb, 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Vengan a conocer más miembros de la comunidad de
la Ascensión y tomen tiempo de reflexionar y orar.

Minneapolis. Hoy, iniciamos la Solicitud Anual de los
Ministerios Católicos, donde el Arzobispo pide que estemos
generosos en apoyar económicamente los ministerios, las
escuelas católicas y la formación de los seminaristas de la
