We, a Catholic community of diverse multicultural backgrounds, unite as a family under one Baptism in Christ. We
come together to pray, evangelize, learn and serve one another, the community and humankind. Guided by the Holy
Spirit, we pursue this mission by participation in the liturgical,
educational, outreach and social ministries of the Church.

Faith Formation – The Sacraments and so much more!
Announcing Religious Education and Youth Group Registration:
Open enrollment for families will be held on Monday and Wednesday, May 11th and 13th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm,
Baptismal certificate (or birth certificate if not baptized) is required for each child
you are registering in our program for the first time.
The Parish School of Religion (PSR) program is for all K – 5th grade students who are not currently attending SVDP
Catholic School. All 6th through 8th graders are encouraged to be a part of EDGE. All 9th through 12th graders are invited
to be active members of Life Teen. PSR, EDGE and Life Teen provide catechetical and spiritual formation in a community-building environment! Adults wishing to learn more about the faith or in need of sacraments may inquire about
and register for programs at the same time.
Students are grouped according to their formation needs. Some groups are in a first year sacrament preparation, some are
in second year sacrament preparation, while others are entering religious formation as Kindergartners or continuing on in
their formation after receiving the sacraments. We invite you to continue growing in your faith community just as you do
in school.
No one will be turned away due to financial need. Registration fee for new registrations s $50 per student with payment
plans available. Please direct inquiries to any member of the Religious Education department.
Registration is easy and it saves the parish money to do it early!

La inscripción será los días lunes 11 de mayo y miércoles 13 de mayo de 10 am a 4pm.
Traer el certificado de Bautismo (o de nacimiento si no ha sido bautizado) si se inscribe por primera vez.
El programa de educación religiosa (PSR) es para niños de kínder a 5to grado que no asisten a la escuela San Vicente de
Paul. Para niños de 6 ato a 8vo se les sugiere que formen parte del programa Edge. De 9no a 12vo están invitados a participar activamente en Life Teen. Estos programas ofrecen catequesis y formación espiritual en un clima de comunidad.
Los adultos que estén buscando crecer en su Fe o quieran recibir algún sacramento pueden preguntar para registrarse en
algún programa en el mismo horario.
Los alumnos son agrupados de acuerdo a las necesidades de su formación. Algunos grupos están en su primer año de
preparación para recibir un sacramento, otros en el segundo. Otros como los de Kindergarten inician su formación y hay
otros que siguen formándose después de recibir un sacramento. Los invitamos a que sigan creciendo en su fe como lo
hacen en su escuela.
Nadie quedara excluido del programa por razones económicas. La cuota de inscripción es de $50 por estudiante con
planes de pago disponibles. Cualquier duda diríjase a algún miembro del departamento de educación religiosa.

Pope Francis on Mary, the Untier of Knots
The month of May is the "month which the piety of the faithful has especially dedicated to Our
Blessed Lady," and it is the occasion for a "moving tribute of faith and love which Catholics in
every part of the world pay to the Queen of Heaven. During this month we will look at a three
part series on MaryÊs faith from Pope Francis.
Part 2 of 3. A second aspect is that Mary's faith gave human flesh to Jesus. As the Council says:
"Through her faith and obedience, she gave birth on earth to the very Son of the Father, without
knowing man but by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit" (Lumen Gentium, 63). This was a
point on which the Fathers of the Church greatly insisted: Mary first conceived Jesus in faith and then in the flesh,
when she said "yes" to the message God gave her through the angel. What does this mean? It means that God did
not want to become man by bypassing our freedom; he wanted to pass through Mary's free assent, through her
"yes". He asked her: "Are you prepared to do this?" And she replied: "Yes".
But what took place most singularly in the Virgin Mary also takes place within us, spiritually, when we receive the
word of God with a good and sincere heart and put it into practice. It is as if God takes flesh within us; he comes to
dwell in us, for he dwells in all who love him and keep his word. It is not easy to understand this, but really, it is
easy to feel it in our heart.
Do we think that Jesus' incarnation is simply a past event which has nothing to do with us personally? Believing in
Jesus means giving him our flesh with the humility and courage of Mary, so that he can continue to dwell in our
midst. It means giving him our hands, to caress the little ones and the poor; our feet, to go forth and meet our brothers and sisters; our arms, to hold up the weak and to work in the Lord's vineyard, our minds, to think and act in the
light of the Gospel; and especially to offer our hearts to love and to make choices in accordance with God's will. All
this happens thanks to the working of the Holy Spirit. And in this way we become instruments in God's hands, so
that Jesus can act in the world through us.

consentimiento libre de María, por medio de su „Si‰. Él le pregunto „œestas preparada para esto?‰ Y ella respondió
„Si‰.
Lo que tuvo lugar de manera particular en la Virgen María también ocurre en nosotros; espiritualmente, cuando recibimos la palabra de Dios con un corazón bueno y sincero y la ponemos en práctica. Es como si Dios se encarnara en
nosotros, viene a habitar dentro nuestro, ya que habita en todo el que lo ama y guarda su palabra. No es fácil de entender esto, pero si fácil de sentirlo en el corazón.
œCreemos que la encarnación de Jesús fue un hecho pasado que nada tiene que ver con nosotros? Creer en Jesús
significa darle nuestras manos para acariciar a los más pequeños y los pobres, nuestros pies, para ir hacia adelante al
encuentro de nuestros hermanos y hermanas; nuestros brazos para sostener a los débiles y trabajar en la viña del Señor, nuestra mente para pensar y actuar a la luz del evangelio; y especialmente ofrecemos nuestros corazones para
amar y tomar decisiones acordes a la voluntad de Dios. Todo esto sucede gracias al trabajo del Espíritu Santo. De
esta manera nos hacemos instrumentos de las manos de Dios, para que Jesús pueda actuar en el mundo a través
nuestro.

What does the "communion of saints" mean?
The "communion of saints" is made up of all men who have placed their hope in Christ and belong to him through
Baptism, whether they have already died or are still alive. Because in Christ we are one Body; we live in a communion that encompasses heaven and earth.
The Church is larger and more alive than we think. Among her members are the living and the deceased (whether
they are still undergoing a process of purification or are already in the glory of God), individuals known and unknown, great saints and inconspicuous persons. We can help one another even beyond the grave. We can call on our
patrons and favorite saints, but also our departed relatives and friends whom we believe are already with God. Conversely, by our intercessory prayer, we can come to the aid of our dear departed who are still undergoing purification. Whatever the individual does or suffers in and for Christ benefits all. Conversely, this unfortunately means
also that every sin harms the communion.
Why does Mary have such a preeminent place in the communion of saints?
Mary is the Mother of God. She was united with Jesus on earth as no other human being was or could bein an intimacy that does not cease in heaven. Mary is the Queen of Heaven, and in her motherhood she is quite close to us.
Because she committed herself, body and soul, to a divine yet dangerous undertaking, Mary was taken up body and
soul into heaven. Anyone who lives and believes as Mary did will get to heaven. CCC section (946-962)
œQué significa la comunión de los Santos?
La comunión de los Santos está formada por todos los hombres que han puesto su esperanza en Cristo y pertenecen
a Él por medio del Bautismo, sea que ya estén muertos o aún vivos. Porque en Cristo somos un solo cuerpo, vivimos
en comunión el cielo y la tierra. La Iglesia es más grande que lo que creemos. Entre sus miembros están los vivos y
difuntos (sea que estén aún en proceso de purificar sus almas o en la gloria de Dios), conocidos y desconocidos,
grandes santos y personas inadvertidas. Podemos ayudarnos incluso más allá de la tumba. Podemos invocar a nuestros patrones y santos favoritos, también a nuestros familiares difuntos y amigos quienes creemos ya están con Dios.
Por nuestras oraciones de intercesión, podemos ayudar a los difuntos queridos que están en proceso de purificación.

en cuerpo y alma, al proyecto divino e incluso peligroso, María fue elevada al cielo en cuerpo y alma. Todo el que

Five-year-old Tanious Issa and his parents are three of the 2 million people
that fled Syria due to the civil war. They now live in Lebanon. TaniousÊ father cannot find work to support his family.
Tanious Issa, de cinco años de edad, y sus padres son tres de los dos millones
de personas que han abandonado sus hogares en Siria debido a la violencia
causada por la guerra civil. Ahora viven en el Líbano, pero el padre de
Tanious no puede encontrar un empleo para mantener a su familia.

Before civil war broke out, 5-year-old Tanious Issa and his parents lived a good life in Syria. But in 2011, the familyÊs
house burned down and they lost everything. Like so many of their neighbors, they made the difficult choice to leave all
they had ever known and move to Lebanon.
Tanious loves living in Lebanon. All he remembers about Syria is the sound of constant gunfire. But refugee life is
tough. TaniousÊ father canÊt find a job, and the family struggles to pay for food and rent.
Catholic Relief Services is working hard to help children like Tanious enjoy childhood. That means we support schools
where they can learn and play·and where there are counselors who help them work through their trauma. Most important, refugee children find friends with whom to grow and share.
This is a difficult time for the Issa family·and many others like them. ThatÊs why we continue providing food vouchers
to help meet the familyÊs immediate needs. Tanious and his family are grateful for the food, but are still praying for lasting peace.
La historia de Tanious
Antes de que estallara la guerra civil, Tanious Issa de 5 años y sus padres llevaban una buena vida en Siria. Pero en 2011,
la casa de la familia se incendió y perdieron todo. Al igual que muchos de sus vecinos, tomarón la difícil decisión de dejar
todo lo que habían conocido y mudarse a Líbano.
Tanious ama vivir en el Líbano. Todo lo que recuerda sobre Siria es el sonido de los disparos. Pero la vida de los refugiados es difícil. El padre de Tanious no puede encontrar un empleo, y la familia lucha para pagar por la comida y el alquiler.

This is a full-time position: 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m. Monday- Friday. The primary responsibility of this position is to welcome visitors and answer the telephone,
completing other clerical and administrative tasks as
needed. Good communication and interpersonal
skills, telephone operation and basic computer skills,
as well as strong Spanish language skills are required.
Administrative Assistant in Finance This position
works 20-30 hours per week with mostly regular hours. The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the counting of our Sunday collections, and to make all deposits for the Church and School. Other
tasks include data entry and production of reports using Parish Data Systems, coordination of money intake at church and school fundraising
events, and tracking of VIRTUS requirements for employees and volunteers. Basic accounting skills and strong computer skills required.

básicas de contabilidad y buen manejo de computación.

The Diocese has tuition aid funding available for black Catholic elementary
school students. Last year we were only able to give to eleven black Catholic
elementary students.
If you know families needing assistance, have them fill out and sign the form
and return it to the Karla Thielemier at the school office. The applicant must
apply through FACTS GRANT and AID ASSISTANCE at the school where
their child is registering. The committee will review all aid applications. Funds
from the St. GabrielÊs Tuition Aid Fund are limited and application for aide
does
not
necessarily
mean
funds
will
be
allotted.
Applications must be in by May 15, 2015. If you have any questions related

Summer Bible Camp "Totus Tuus"
Tofus Tuus is a summer program run by college students that come from the Dioceses of
Oklahoma to teach about our Catholic faith in a fun and interactive environment. This is
the 3rd year that our Parish has had the privilege to offer this opportunity to our children
and youth.
This year's theme is "The -Virtues‰ and "The Sorrowful Mysteries."
