Mission Statement
We, a Catholic community of diverse multicultural backgrounds, unite as a family under one Baptism in Christ. We
come together to pray, evangelize, learn and serve one another, the community and humankind. Guided by the Holy
Spirit, we pursue this mission by participation in the liturgical,
educational, outreach and social ministries of the Church.

Growing in Faith by Bob Maloney
Several years ago my spiritual life consisted of going to Mass on Sundays, but not much more. As a cradle Catholic that attended Catholic schools
and grew up in a Catholic family I thought I was very knowledgeable concerning
my religion. I thought I was fulfilling my religious obligations, however somehow
it all just didn’t make sense and it really wasn’t having much influence on my life.
Then a friend invited me to attend a Cursillo retreat. It took me a couple of years,
but finally I decided to accept the invitation. It was a humbling weekend. I discovered I knew very little about my faith, the Bible or my Church. The team that led the retreat introduced me
to a new way of life. They had a strong faith in God, and understood what He expected of them. I envied
their knowledge and the obvious joy and comfort they felt in their personal relationships with God. I didn’t
have a personal relationship with God and they inspired me to seek one. So I committed to following the outline they recommended. After some study and prayer the following year I joined the team that puts on the
Men’s Cursillo retreat. This process gradually but significantly allowed me to grow in my faith and knowledge
of God and what he wanted me to do. I continue to be involved in Cursillo as it helps me to continue to grow
in faith.
St. Vincent de Paul also offers the St Andrew’s School of Evangelization retreats here in our Parish. I
have participated in these retreats because they too have enhanced my ability to grow in faith and knowledge
of God. I strongly recommend you take advantage of these spiritual renewal opportunities, especially if you
want to know what God wants you to do with your life. Want to learn about the Holy Spirit? You will find Him
in these retreats. It takes a little courage, but the reward is worth the risk. You may wonder as I did, what will
I have to give up followings Jesus’ teachings? You’ll learn that’s not the question, it’s what do I have to gain?

Hace varios años mi vida espiritual consistió en ir a misa los domingos, pero no mucho más. Como un católico desde mi infancia que asistió a escuelas católicas y creció en una familia católica pensé que estaba muy
bien informado acerca de mi religión. Pensé que estaba cumpliendo con mis obligaciones religiosas, sin embargo de alguna manera simplemente todo no tenia sentido y realmente no estaba teniendo mucha influencia
en mi vida. Luego un amigo me invitó a asistir a un retiro de Cursillo. Me tomó un par de años, pero finalmente decidí aceptar la invitación. Fue un fin de semana humillante. Descubrí que sabía muy poco acerca de mi
fe, mi iglesia o la Biblia. El equipo que llevó acabo el retiro me presentó a una nueva forma de vida. Ellos
tenían una fuerte fe en Dios y entendían lo que él esperaba de ellos. Envidiaba sus conocimientos y la evidente alegría y confort que se sentían en sus relaciones personales con Dios. Yo no tenía una relación personal con Dios y ellos me inspiraron a buscar una. Así que me comprometí a seguir el esquema que ellos
recomendaron. Después de un estudio y la oración al año siguiente me uní al equipo que pone el retiro de
Cursillo de los hombres. Este proceso gradualmente pero significativamente me permitió crecer en mi fe y
conocimiento de Dios y lo que él quería que yo hiciera. Continuo participando en el Cursillo es como me
ayuda a seguir creciendo en la fe.

Are you a college student or young adult looking to continue
to grow in your relationship with God? If so, you’re in luck. St.
Vincent de Paul is starting a young adult ministry for young
men and women ages 18-22. The first meeting will be on
Tuesday February 17th. There will be a party for Fat Tuesday
with food, games, prizes, and the opportunity to get to know
other young adults in the area. The group will be attending
Ash Wednesday Mass the following day and will meet every

Please Pray for the End of Abortion in NWA
February 18 through March 29, you’re invited to join
other Christians for 40 Days for Life – 40 days of prayer
and fasting for an end to abortion.
You’re also invited to stand and peacefully pray during a
40-day vigil in the public right-of-way outside the
Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. (Joyce and Crossover in Fayetteville) and to help spread the word about
this important outreach. Groups are encouraged to
adopt a weekly shift.

World Experience Day Hi, my name is Joanne Sokolsky and my
children attend SVdP School. For the past 12 years the parents of
our school held an event called World Experience Day. On this
day, a country (or continent) is brought to life for the students. We
have explored Mexico, Italy, Ireland, Africa, China, Latin America,
Australia, France, India, Israel and Philippines/Vietnam. This
year we are traveling to beautiful SWITZERLAND on April 24,
2015.
As some of you may or may not be aware, the International Committee of the Red Cross was started by a Swiss man, Jean
Henry Dunant in 1864. He had such a great capacity for helping
others that our committee felt strongly that having a blood drive
would not only showcase his contributions, but really show our
students the true sense of community service. The Red Cross bloodmobile will be at our school to celebrate
World Experience Day on Friday, April 24 from 10am until 2pm. We will need a minimum of 25 donors to
ensure we remain on their schedule. If you will be able to donate blood and would like to sign-up, please
email [email protected] with Blood Donor in the subject line so I can add you to our list of donors planning to donate blood on April 24th. Thank you.
We are also in need of someone with a passion for geography to lead our Matterhorn station. This station will give a brief overview of Switzerland’s diverse geography and will include an activity that will show a

Italia, Irlanda, Africa, China, Latino America, Australia, Francia, India, Israel y Filipina/Vietnam. Este año viajaremos a Suiza, en abril 24- 2015.
Quiza muchos de ustedes no saben que el comite internacional de la Cruz roja lo comenso en 1864
Jean Henry Dunant un hombre Suizo. El tenia una gran capacidad para ayudar a otros, nuestro comite ba a
hacer una campaña para donar sangre, no solo para muestra de sus contribuciones si no tambien para enseñar a nuestros estudiantes el berdadero sentido de el servicio a la comunidad. El automobile de sangre de la
cruz roja bendra a nuestra escuela a celebrar el Dia de la Experiencia Mundial, el viernes 24 de Abril de las
10:00 am a 2:00 pm. Nesecitamos un minimo de 25 donadores, para poder realisar este evento, si puedes

Are you seeking a volunteer opportunity, then the Society of
SVdP Food Pantry is the place for you. Gathering sorting, stocking the shelves with donations and serving the clients directly are
a few of the volunteer opportunities available. The pantry serves
clients four days a week but gathers and processes donations six
days a week. Call to see what time and opportunity would be a
good fit for you. The SVdP Food Pantry is in need of volunteers
from 9:00 am to 10:30 am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to
drive the SVdP Food Pantry van or assist as a ride along helper.

prayer ministry: LORD TEACH ME TO PRAY. Praying Christian Virtues will
introduce you to the meditative and contemplative way of prayer devised by St.
Ignatius of Loyola. The focus will be to enable you to further develop your
prayer life by praying 15 minutes a day with selected scriptures. Beginning
February, this 12 week prayer group will meet on Thursdays from 9-11 am,
and also an evening session will be offered Mondays, 6:30-8:30pm. Class

For many in the Church in Central and Eastern Europe, as well
as parts of Asia, the aftermath of 70 years of Soviet rule is still
felt in the form of poverty, infrequent pastoral care, and lack of
buildings in which the faithful can worship. Your support is
needed to strengthen the Church in this region through grants
that promote ministries for children and families, create affordable housing, and provide a cultural and spiritual education.

Eastern Europe.
