PEACE, ANOTHER NAME FOR JUSTICE,
PART 2 OF 2
At the end of the first part of this reflection we
said to always ask questions. We affirmed as well now to
always remember that the practice of justice, peace, and
solidarity are always the signs which confirm the
announcement of the Gospel and the presence of the
Kingdom of God.
As male and female disciple of the Master, our
lifestyle, our dedication, and our commitment must show
their usefulness in the humanization of the human being
and in the building of a human society, which is the
motor and promoter of peace and justice. As we often
repeat with St. Irenaeus: “The glory of God is the human
person fully alive.” This means that with justice as the
starting point, a human being, with his entire being, has
to live in peace and dignity. This doesn’t mean a
disguised justice with unrealizable plans or with words to
put us to sleep, but a justice founded on inclusion and
respect for those who are different, where everything
must be just for all.
It’s no secret that there are places in this world
where it is extremely urgent to implement a culture of
justice to achieve a lasting peace. Faced with the
ongoing violence registered in some countries, without
doubt many of us feel the need to seek answers and at
the same time feel helpless; but we should not keep our
arms folded because of this. On the contrary, we must
shout to the four winds that yes, it is possible to promote
and cultivate peace and live it as God commands.
To do this, we must first begin with the family as
the domestic church and then with our neighborhoods,
communities, and countries. Peace certainly is the other
name for justice, but speaking about peace is not talking
about the absence of conflicts. Eliminating difference is
not speaking about and promoting peace. On the
contrary, differences are what make us aware that, not
only is it possible, but also necessary to live within peace
and justice and as was well emphasized by Pope
Francis: “Peace is not limited to a mere absence of war,
the result of an ever precarious balance of forces. No,
peace is something that is built up day after day, in the
pursuit of an order intended by God, which implies a
more perfect form of justice among men and women.”
Finally, as the sons and daughters of God that
we are, we must understand that there cannot be any
love relationship with God without us relating to each
other with justice, love, and peace. God continues
revealing himself, showing his face and sharing and
counting on us in the project of building his Kingdom
which is Life and Liberty, Peace and Justice. He is
waiting for you….and you, why do you delay in uniting
yourself to him?

Al final de la primera parte de esta reflexión
dijimos que hay que preguntar siempre. Asimismo,
afirmamos en esta ocasión que hay que recordar que
son siempre las practicas de justicia, paz y solidaridad
los signos que acreditan el anuncio de la Buena Nueva y
la presencia del Reino de Dios.
Como discípulos y discípulas del Maestro,
nuestro estilo de vida, nuestra entrega y compromiso
tienen que mostrar que es útil para la humanización del
ser humano y para la construcción de la sociedad
humana como motora y promotora de la paz y la justicia.
Como solemos repetir con San Irineo: “la gloria de Dios
es que el ser humano viva.” Esto significa que, con la
justicia como punto de arranque, el ser humano, en todo
su ser, ha de vivir en paz y dignidad. No se trata de una
justicia disfrazada con planes irrealizables o palabras
para adormecer, sino una justicia fundamentada en la
inclusión y el respecto al otro diferente, donde las cosas
han de ser justas para todos.
No es un secreto que hay lugares en el mundo
dónde es ultra urgente implementar una cultura de la
justicia para poder llegar a una paz duradera. Frente a la
violencia repetitiva que se registra en algunos países no
cabe duda de que muchos de nosotros nos sentimos
interpelados y al mismo tiempo impotentes; pero no por
eso debemos quedarnos con los brazos cruzados, al
contrario, debemos gritar a los cuatro vientos que si es
posible promocionar y cultiva la paz y vivirla como Dios
manda.
Para ello, se debe primero empezar desde la
familia como iglesia doméstica y luego por nuestros
barrios, comunidades y países. La paz, por cierto, es el
otro nombre de la justicia, pero hablar de paz no es
hablar de ausencia de conflictos. Hablar y promover la
paz no es eliminar diferencias. Al contrario, son las
diferencia las que nos hacen caer en cuenta de que no
solamente es posible sino también necesario vivir desde
la paz y la justicia y como bien subrayó el Papa
Francisco: “La paz no se reduce a una ausencia de
guerra, fruto del equilibrio siempre precario de las
fuerzas. La paz se construye día a día, en la
instauración de un orden querido por Dios, que
comporta una justicia más perfecta entre los seres
humanos”.
En fin, como hijos e hijas de Dios que somos,
debemos entender que no puede haber ninguna relación
de amor con Dios, a no ser que nos relacionemos los
unos con los otros desde la justicia, el amor y la paz.
Dios sigue revelándose, mostrando su rostro y
compartiendo y contando con nosotros en el proyecto de
la construcción de su Reino que es vida y Libertad, Paz
y Justicia. Él está esperando por ti…¿y tú, por qué te
demoras en unirte a Él?

BISHOP’S ANNUAL WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
MASS
Bishop Francis Malooly invites all couples
celebrating their 25th, 40th, or 50th wedding
anniversary, or any anniversary beyond 5oth, to
the Annual Wedding Anniversary Mass at 1:30
p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at St. John
the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road,
Wilmington, DE 19805. A reception with light
refreshments in the parish hall will immediately
follow the Mass. Certificates for 25th, 40th, 50th,
55th, 60th, 65th, and 70th wedding anniversaries
will be distributed in Church. There is no cost to
you, however reservations are required. Please
make your reservations by October 15 by
contacting Fr. Todd.
The next Diocesan Joven Consejo meeting will take
place on Saturday, October 17 at 10:00 AM at St
Dennis, Galena.
The next Diocesan Adult Consejo meeting will take
place on Saturday, October 31 at Holy Cross, Dover.
Each Hispanic Ministry community is requested to send
at least one representative to each meeting.

Intercultural Conference at St. Margaret of
Scotland! Building Intercultural Connections
(B.I.C.), a program developed by the U.S. Bishops’
Conference to provide church leaders with cultural
training for the growing diversity in the Church, will
be presented on Saturday, November 7 at St.
Margaret of Scotland in Newark, DE from 10:00
AM to 6:30 PM. The conference will conclude with
a multi-cultural mass. Admission is free. A $5
donation will be requested for a magnificent multicultural lunch. This conference is for all Catholics
interested in building stronger, unified parishes and

Youth Retreat at St. Paul’s
Church
St. Paul’s Church in Wilmington,
