The Pope ends: “May Jesus, the eternal Son,
made into son in human history, help us to find the way
for a new irradiation o this human experience, which is
so simple and so great: being a child. In the
multiplication of the generation there is a mystery of
enrichment of the life of all that comes from Godself. We
must rediscover, challenging prejudice and live it out in
faith with full joy; and I tell you: it is so beautiful when I
go among you and I see moms and dad lifting up their
children so I can bless them. This is an almost divine
gesture. Than you for doing it.”
EL AMOR ES NUESTRA MISIÓN:
LA FAMILIA, LLENA DE VIDA
Al acercarnos al Encuentro Mundial de las
Familias que se celebrará en Filadelfia, en septiembre
de 2015, encontramos diversas catequesis centradas en
el tema del Congreso: El amor es nuestra misión: la
familia, llena de vida.
Además de las catequesis que se publican en la
página web de la USCCB, la Editorial Verbo Divino de
Navarra, España ofrece algunas de las catequesis del
Papa Francisco en preparación para el Encuentro.
Comenzando con Isaías 60:4-5 (“Levántate, mira a tu
alrededor y ve: todos tus hijos llegan de lejos. Al ver
esto estarás radiante; tu corazón latirá de alegría”), el
Papa comenta sobre los lazos entre la esperanza de un
pueblo y la armonía entre las generaciones. La alegría
de los hijos conmueve el corazón de los padres.
El Papa reflexiona sobre el regalo de los hijos a
la vida y el amor incondicional que se les ofrece. Un
niño es amado porque es un niño y no por el bien que
haya hecho o lo bello o inteligente que sea. La vida se
ama como regalo orientado al bien de la familia y la
sociedad. “Amados antes de nacer”, añade el Papa, “ser
niños es una condición básica para conocer el amor de
Dios”.
Luego hay una reflexión sobre el cuarto
Mandamiento y dice: “el lazo virtuoso entre las
generaciones es una garantía de futuro y una garantía
para una historia verdaderamente humana”. Advierte
sobre el peligro de debilitar tal lazo, ya que una
sociedad de hijos que no honran a sus padres es una
sociedad sin honor. Por otro lado, una sociedad “avara
de procreación”, una sociedad que considera necesario
limitar la natalidad a las tasas alarmantes vistas en
Europa en las ultimas décadas, es una sociedad
deprimida. “No tener hijos es una opción egoísta”, dice
el Papa.
El Papa Concluye: “Que Jesus, el hijo eterno,
hecho hijo en la historia humana, nos ayude a encontrar
el camino para una nueva irradiación de esta
experiencia humana, tan sencilla y tan grande al mismo
tiempo; ser hijo. En la multiplicación de la generación
existe un misterio de enriquecimiento de la vida de todos
que viene de Dios mismo. Debemos redescubrirla,
desafiando el prejuicio y vivirla en fe y con plena alegría.
Les digo, es tan bello ir entre ustedes y ver a mamás y
papás levantar a sus niños para que los bendiga. Es
casi un gesto divino. Gracias por hacerlo”.

Nuestra Parroquia
Besides the catechesis being published on the
web page of USCCB, Verbo Divino Publishing House of
Navarra, Spain offers some of Pope Francis’ catechesis
in preparation for the Encounter. Starting from Isaiah
60:4-5 (“Arise, look up and see: all gather and come to
you; your children come from afar. On seeing this you
will be radiant; your heart will beat with joy”) and he
comments on the bond between the hope of a people
and harmony among generations. The joy of children
moves the heart of parents.
The Pope reflects on the gift of children to life
and of the unconditional love given to them. A child is
loved because his is a child, and not because of the
good she has done or for how pretty or handsome he or
she is. Life is loved as a gift oriented to the good of the
family and society. “Loved before bed,” the Pope adds,
“being children is a basic condition to come to know the
love of God.”
Then there is a reflection on the fourth
Commandment, and he says: “the virtuous bond among
generations is a guarantee for the future and a
guarantee of a truly human history.” He warns about the
danger of weakening such bond, since a society of
children who don’t honor their parents is a society
without honor. On the other hand, a society “miserly with
procreation,” that is a society who deems it necessary to
limit birth to the alarming rates seen in Europe in the past
decades, is a depressed society. “Not having children,”
says the Pope, “is a selfish option.”

Youth Retreat at St. Paul’s Church
St. Paul’s Church in Wilmington, Delaware
invites all youth ages 13 to 18 to a Youth
Retreat on Saturday, October 10, 2015. The
Retreat will take place at St. Paul’s School Hall
from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It will be a bi-lingual

We are pleased to announce that we will be
offering a Joven Leadership Development
Workshop on August 15 and 16 at Jesus House,
Wilmington. The workshop will train youth and
young adult leaders as well as adult moderators
(asesores) youth & young adult program
organization skills, leadership, and curriculums.
Materials presented come the “Prophets of Hope/
Profetas de Esperanza” program of the Instituto de
Fe y Vida, the top pastoral juvenil formation
program in the United States. Each Hispanic
Ministry parish can send four participants. Parishes
are asked to carefully discern participants to send:
those whom clearly demonstrate commitment,
maturity, stability, and faith. Please submit
registration by August 1.
